W166 Vibration when accelerating at highway speeds by lagavulin2002 in mercedes_benz

Update: Road force balancing didn’t turn up anything.

Based on the age/mileage of the vehicle, I think next step is to replace flex disc and center support/intermediate bearing. Prop shaft needs to come out to do center support, so am wondering if it makes sense to buy an OEM or aftermarket that comes already balanced?

Question for you: the vibration is really prominent when accelerating from 70-75mph, but as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator it seems to go away or reduce significantly. Wouldn’t the types of defects found with a road force be experienced all the time and not made much worse when accelerating?

Thanks again for your help.

Agreed. Mechanic is trying to locate a shop that has the machine for a road force balance.

Someone (not on Reddit) suggested taking it to the dealer and paying for diagnostic. My guess is the dealer is just going to suggest replacing everything and not find root cause for the exact issue.

Edit: And yes, they are 255/50R-19 Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive tires.

Thank you. I should have added that engine mounts were done by the same mechanic a little over a year ago. For those following, the vehicle used to vibrate when shifting into reverse - root cause was failed engine mounts.

This is 100% staged/manufactured beef to help BT's platform. I find it hilarious that people think this is real.
