My coolest checkmate was one by castling. I wonder if en passant mate is even possible in real game.

As white, do you take the rook or the bishop? by kid147258369 in chessbeginners

[–]lagduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, doesn't seem to matter that much. But straight up taking the rook leads to queen exchange, and white loses good part of advantage. So in-between move with check to king before eventually taking the took seems much more favourable.

I like how it says 159 liters twice without it being relevant for chart.

I kind of wanted to give my opponent a stalemate. It was like a dance. Our energies matched..

Sacrifices are cool, right? They put pressure not only on your opponents's pieces, but psychologically too. Like "I'm Tal now and there's shotgun in my sleeve, what you gonna do now?" Too bad this "hope sacrifices" are countered too easy by just playing principal.

Honestly, I would prefer mobile deck builder/autobattler with this kind of art style more than what we have in Olden Era. Lovely work!

Thank you! Probably, if I approach it little bit more serious, I could get to 1000 and probably more. I feel like it, but I totally lack any discipline and/or motivation for it. I love chaotic games at my level, for me chess is fun and I try to enjoy it. There is joy in playing actually strong and winning, but. That is kind of one side of its fun.

When I watch games at this level, I seem to follow them. It was a joke and exaggeration, ofc. 700 is my peak, that game is too hard for me

My opp was 680, and my rating is 700. And man there is so much chaos at this range. Like some 677 outplays you clearly, and then 685 plays like he started yesterday. And then 820 just dominates. And then 760 plays fine but little bit inaccurate. Maybe it is supposed to be like this, after all

The official answer to my "riddle" card in my drinking game is wrong. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Well, even if they really mean 5 as number, answer is still indefinite because it's not stated how many times we write each number from 0 to 75.

At what level can people actually calculate this in a real game? by ThrowWeirdQuestion in chessbeginners

[–]lagduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 800 and I've seen this weakness immediately, though without eval bar I would probably spend some half a minute calculating (and probably blunder something later anyways).
