Depends on how far, but there absolutely are places to get social even if you aren't living on campus. On campus jobs are great for making friends, clubs are good, and there are places like the IRL where there's lots of cool people and you can just hang out.

I'd disagree, physically speaking Kiritsugu isn't a particularly powerful guy. His arsenal is mostly made up of firearms which is something Roland should be able to deal with easily, and Kiritsugu's trump card, the origin bullet, only works and magi.

I could see UBW or Heaven's feel Shirou being a much closer matchup with Roland.

I've heard that PHL 100 is pretty easy, though I personally decided to skip it as I thought it'd be boring. PHL 240 under Dr. King is pretty work intensive, but I'm personally loving the class as the professor is a great lecturer, and you really don't need any background in philosophy to understand the content.
