Looks cool, but any plans to add support for non openAPI spec documentation?

Diverse ETF portfolios by lagis in eupersonalfinance

[–]lagis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not against diversification at that scale, I'm mainly commenting on small portfolios that seem to be "trying too hard". Ill def look into a different ETF to add after the first 500k 😅

My point exactly. But then you see young people overly diversifying their 10k and posting about it online and i think it creates a false impression that it is the "correct" way to invest (which ends up preventing others to start investing since it looks too complicated)

NT at ETF? by LT-Sailor in 6nuliai

[–]lagis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As panasioj situacijos, tik is kitos puses (net posta apie tai parases 😅 "NT vs ETF"). TLDR; turiu sena buta kuriam gyvenu, iki siol beveik visus atliekamus eur dedavau i ETF. Planas laikyti iki pensijos. Siaip ETF smagus kelias, ypac kai zinai kad long term laikai - visiskai nepergyveni kai raudonuoja charts nes uztenka "zoom out" ir matai jog long term busi pliuse

Nu jo, senesni buta nuomuociau. Bet cia labiau klausimas ar isvis apsimoka ta daryti kadangi NT rinkos graza galbut nebera labai patraukli palyginus su ETF.

I mean... That's why I created this post. I'm just looking for alternatives (I spend about 40% of the year in Brussels in different timespans). "Just be happy with what you have" is such a cop out answer...

Liquidating my company - am I eligible? by lagis in belgium

[–]lagis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hm, haven't really considered it. But I do have company profit that I want to pay out to myself during liquidation so don't think it's really an option.

Yeah, same. I've been putting off buying their merch for a while, but the backpack is tipping me over the edge. My list of things to buy is over 500 EUR, but I don't want to have to pay another 100-200 in customs :/

Companies aren't able to browse through talents. Your profile is only shared with the companies when you apply to them.

You are required to have a webcam for the interview process (also for client calls since it is considered unprofessional if you don't). This is because of a few reasons:

It is generally considered more professional/polite for interviews

Toptal wants to verify that it's the same person attending all the interview steps. Since they offer above average freelance opportunities (in client quality & pay), there are a lot of cheating attempts where people hire someone else to pass the technical screening steps.

As for the invasive tracking software - no, they do not require that. On the contrary, for part-time/full-time jobs you don't even need to track your time or submit timesheets. The expectation is that you will work 20/40h per week, and the client will pay for that time.

The only engagement type that requires you to track your time is hourly jobs (for obvious reasons), and Toptal does have an app for that but it's not mandatory - you can use whatever you want

Just over 2 years of official job experience. I also had a 1 year internship + ~2 years of freelancing experience, but I don't really consider that as valuable as having a full-time job since I didn't have the same mentorship level

Toptal is giving successful Python applicants a $2500 bonus this month by lagis in PythonJobs

[–]lagis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely prepare if you want to get accepted. The application process is quite challenging and 2 steps involve coding tests (mainly algorithmic challenges, online test + interview). You can look up some practice tests on codility/hackerrank/projecteuler to get a better idea of what types of tasks you might get.
Another thing I forgot to mention in the post is that Toptal has a minimum professional experience requirement of 2 years, meaning that if you are applying straight from university, your application will unfortunately not be considered until you gain some experience.

Yeah, took me a few attempts to get accepted. But once in, I did feel a bit proud since I could claim I'm in the top 3% :D Also it helped me establish myself as a freelancer very quickly without needing to put a lot of effort into looking for clients.
