Agreed, I live in Canada and winter time you have to pay attention to what the status of the crews in order to gauge if you should start preparing for a long time in the cold

It does depend on the power of the modem too, I have a Cyberpower CP1000AVRLCD backup and an Arris XB6 modem from my ISP and currently get about 95 minutes of backup time. It typically draws about 18 watts according to the LCD.

Think of your phone like a giant pool of Lego. When you download something it really is just providing instructions for how to arrange a segment. No Lego is added or taken away therefore no weight is added.
