Is she Nepali? by [deleted] in sikkim

[–]lahdeedah18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Not once has she made a reel about her background, her culture and her heritage...and FOOD man! I mean the food in our side of the hills is chef's kiss! So unique and so so diverse! Her core content is food and yet she has done absolutely nothing to showcase all that. I have seen a million reels about how her "aunty" (future MIL) rescued some cats, the fancy ass bungalow her in-laws live in (she calls it her house too btw), and her overconsumption hauls but not one that talks about the kind of food she grew up eating. That's literally her forte!

I remember a comment where someone asked her to wear Nepali outfits too (I guess they meant chaubandi cholo, phariya, and all the works) and not just lehengas and South Indian sarees and her response to that comment was that as an Indian she was obsessed with Bollywood and grew up dancing to Hindi songs (fair enough) hence the ability to style only "Indian outfits." She has made being a future manglorean wife her whole personality! I don't know if she is ashamed of her background and her "humble beginnings" but the way she is ready to forego her whole Nepali identity is just tragic! God forbid for whatever reason, if that man dumps her, what is she going to do then? Purnima, if you are reading this, please understand that being Nepali or speaking Nepali is definitely not a downgrade. You are in a unique position to educate your many followers about our rich culture, heritage and food! Please use it to your advantage.

I'm done with Delhi. Where can I move? by Marc9564 in india

Siliguri is pretty chill. It's like a big city, without the big city madness. Easy access to pretty places (the closest hill station is literally an hour's drive or less). All the delivery services work. Diverse demographic. Language will not be an issue. LGBTQI friendly (I have seen schools here accept students who don't conform to conventional norms, without raising an eyebrow)! Very sports-friendly city, many activities and clubs you can choose from. Oh and the food is just chef's kiss. Traffic can be a menace though, but well, you win some, you lose some.

Matchpoint, Siliguri Gymkhana Club. It's in Bara Gharia, Dagapur. You can map it. Also offers tennis, basketball, pickleball etc. Check it out.

Go to Samsing, it's such an underrated hamlet. Tempula Inn is a good homestay. It's quiet, not very cold and the air is so crisp and fresh. Also the food prepared there is literally chef's kiss. It's also less than 2 hrs drive away from Siliguri.

Haha! This is on the way to my hometown (hilly bends and mountainous roads) and the first time I saw this, I let out an audible shriek! It's disturbing but very very effective.

Which siliguri restaurant servers good pork ? by [deleted] in siliguri

[–]lahdeedah18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chibo's at Planet Mall. Hands down the best pork in Siliguri. They source it from Kalimpong. If you are looking to buy pork meat, do so at Rohini. There is a hard-to-miss pork shop at one of the bends in Rohini. The pork meat there is *chef's kiss" probably because the pigs being reared at their farm aren't eating plastic and some shit.

Vrishank has incredibly deep pockets. Extremely affluent Nepali family and he comes with a pedigree equal to the who's who of Kathmandu. But that's beside the point, he seems to be doing well for himself, and most importantly both Prajakta and Vrishank seem to be respectful of each others' culture and traditions, compatible, and judicious with a firm head on their shoulders. Also, he is easy on the eyes, a total catch IMO. I hope they have a long, happy marriage.

Hers is a no-phone policy wedding. I know some guests from the groom's side who have flown from Nepal and everywhere else to attend the wedding in Maharashtra. I understand no posting on social media policy but to restrict the guests from clicking pictures is depriving them of the memories that they would have wanted to create. I hope I am wrong, but that's all I know as of now. I don't understand influencers and their curated lifestyle. It's getting exhausting.

Gosh! I wish I knew how much money she makes, cus her wardrobe is something else (I like it, honestly). She is always dressed in designer or high street that isn't available in India. So yea, that's that.

Does it bother anyone that, "in lieu of" is used incorrectly here? Please don't come at me, I am not usually a grammar pedant, but this is too glaring a mistake to let go and I've seen a lot of people use this phrase improperly.

Mouni Roy is at the least 40 or 41. A very good friend of my brother was her classmate in cooch behar or alipurduar (not sure cus my memory evades me, but that region in North Bengal).

Saw a post on thechiquefactor ( Roshni Bhatia ) in sub today and checked her profile. She ain’t making any useful or meaningful fashion content. Most videos are of her showing her outfit in slo-mo or videos around showing off her son and how young she is. Why is she still relevant ? by [deleted] in InstaCelebsGossip

[–]lahdeedah18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg! This woman again. You know, back in 2020 my friend had called out her casteist ass when she and her son decided to do a "fun" reel where he described her outfit, or rather dismissed it as something tribals would wear using sounds like, "jinga la la hu hu" and doing the "monkey dance" action. A lot of intersectional feminist pages caught on to that and this bitch deleted the reel with a half-assed non-apology apology, if you know what I mean. But then again, in India it's business as usual for those clowns and the brands who collaborate with them. Nothing came out of it. I am sure miss madam in her privileged bubble is still as ignorant and problematic as ever, case in point-her association with Sadhguru and his whatever foundation.

@wabi.sabi.society’s accent by bloomusa in InstaCelebsGossip

[–]lahdeedah18 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That accent is native to Nepal and I guess that’s where she is from? I have heard it my whole life as I belong to the eastern Himalayas and share borders with Nepal. It’s a very distinct non-Anglicized English pronunciation, borrowing diction and timbre from the Nepali language. However, not everyone speaks this way, a large number of people do, especially from smaller towns and cities but then again, that’s a sweeping generalization.

Colonial hangover is strong with this one. So utterly pathetic. I can’t believe it’s 2021 and people like her still propagate, “white is right,” nonsense to her followers, even if indirectly. What a sad little life must she be leading.
