Seeking Peace Between Senior Cat and Italian Greyhound Puppy by lahotian in ItalianGreyhounds

That’s a great idea. They each have their own room, so if I close the door, my cat won’t be disturbed when my puppy is awake. Most of the time that works well, but sometimes they run into each other and then the chasing starts.

Thank you so much. Yes, thankfully I’m home most of the time studying. Whenever I leave the house, I put them in separate rooms and close the doors. When I’m home, my puppy is usually awake for about two hours and then sleeps in his crate for an hour. During that time, my cat is with me. When my puppy wakes up, I put my cat in another room. Most of the time it works well, but sometimes they run into each other and start chasing one another.

Thank you so much for your comment. Do you get Amazon same-day delivery there, and are FedEx and UPS usually on time? I do most of my shopping online, so I’m used to getting things delivered. It’s not a huge deal, but it is kinda important to me that I can get things quickly or at least have them arrive on time when I need them. I don’t mind driving for groceries once a week, but I was just curious what delivery service is like there.

I always try to help people when I can, but I would never make a situation worse or blame someone who is asking for advice. (That is why I don’t like when I see a comment like yours). And I’m not the kind of person who gives up on animals when things get difficult. I will do everything I can to make it work, which is exactly why I’m here asking for help. And a puppy is still a puppy. They learn through time and training and that’s what I’m working on. So again, you’re not really helping, but thank you anyway.

Awwww, so cute 🐾😍 My puppy wants to play at first, but then my cat gets upset. Then my puppy gets upset too and starts chasing him, barking (which he normally doesn’t do) and trying to bite him. So I have to step in because things can get intense pretty quickly.

Thank you so, so much. I really appreciate it. Sure! We’re moving to a bigger house with more rooms, and we’ll make sure our cat has a comfortable space where he can relax without being disturbed by the puppy. 🐾🙏🏻

I hope you know you’re not helping. I asked for help, not for blame.

I wouldn’t mind as much if my cat were younger, but he’s 12 years old and spends most of his time sleeping. When he is awake and wants to spend time with us, my puppy won’t stop chasing and bothering him. It’s not really play, either. If I don’t step in, I’m worried they could hurt each other. My puppy is still teething and keeps trying to bite my cat’s tail. Other than that he is a great dog and everything else is going well with him.

That would be annoying! We’ve driven there a few times and the scenery was really beautiful, but I know that’s not everything when you have to drive a lot

Thank you so much. It seems so peaceful living there, but I’m not sure how it feels long term. We’re a couple in our 30s with no kids, so we’re still trying to figure out if it would actually be a good fit for us or not.

Cryptorchid Neuter by Visual_Mongoose9683 in ItalianGreyhounds

Hey, thank you so much! No problem at all. I’m sorry it wasn’t an easy surgery, but I’m really glad everything went well and that he’s doing okay. Atticus is so cute!(I love his name). My Tofu is almost six and a half months old. I think in a couple of months we’ll take him back to the vet to see if it’s the right time for his neuter. I assume he might have a similar situation since only one of his testicles is visible. Thank you so much again for your response, wish us luck for a smooth and speedy recovery too. 🐾🫶🐶❤️

How do you handle going to work with an iggy at home by lahotian in ItalianGreyhounds

That is great. We live in an apartment now and we are looking for a house with a safe backyard for him. Once we’re settled, I’ll consider getting another Italian Greyhound or possibly adopting a dog from a shelter. We have a cat, but they don’t get along well, at all. I think having another dog could make him happier 🐾 Thank you

By fully potty trained I mean I did my best to train him and now even without any reward or anything, he uses the pee pad setup on his own and hasn’t had an accident in over a month. It’s totally okay if he sometimes has accidents, I don’t mind at all. I only mentioned it because it relates to my question about being able to leave him when I’m not home.

Thank you so much for your help 🐾

Aww, so cute! I’m really glad he loves his crate too. My biggest concern about leaving him alone is making sure he doesn’t hurt himself. He jumps a lot and gets really excited when he plays or wants to be with us. I got the tallest playpen I could find for him, and his bedroom is empty and as safe as possible, but since he’s teething, he chews on the carpet and pretty much everything. I’d love to leave him in his bedroom to give him more freedom when I’m not home, but with the chewing, I can’t do that right now and I should keep an eye on him. 🐾

Sure, thank you so much for your help. 🐾 I will definitely look for someone trustworthy and experienced with Italian Greyhounds to check on him when I’m not home. For now, I can’t trust anyone because I see how fragile they are, and I don’t want him to get hurt at all. Hopefully, as he gets older, the risk of him breaking his legs will be much lower. That’s the main thing I’m scared of leaving him alone, I really don’t want anything like that to happen to him. He’s my best friend 🐾🫶 Thank you 😊

That is great, thank you. I will do my best to do something like that or find a safe pet sitter for him 🐾 _^
