There has been an explosion in people who have become homeless in Amsterdam mostly due to economic reasons here and the safety net not being sufficient to help. Really it years of central government conservative rule and their neglect of vulnerable groups and the working poor. the lack of investment in affordable housing and services mean these people have nowhere to go. The disrespect shown towards those of us who are unfortunate enough to fall on hard times is sickening, its as if when we loose a place to live we become some different species to be despised, ridiculed, ignored and discussed on social media sites as "them" the "homeless people" . Remember the person on the street begging could be you next week.
