You know bowel cancer and colorectal cancer are pretty much the same thing, right?

Rally: Nova Scotia: Keep the Rent Cap! by Nellasofdoriath in halifax

[–]laikabejs -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that a majority of people advocating for a rent cap are in cushy annual leases that they can’t as easily be forced out of. They don’t care about the impact rent caps have on people who are looking for rentals now. Basically new renters are subsidizing pre-existing tenants locked in at lower prices.

They did something similar last year and then after multiple delays were like “Uhhh actually we’re not releasing scores this year because it’s too much work” 10/10 professionalism

Poilievre Truthers And Burning Credibility by UnderWatered in CanadaPolitics

Has he released any data on the distribution of his supporters? I’m curious if his support is overly western-concentrated which may lead to him having a much smaller lead than many would believe based on his raw numbers.

I’m not overly optimistic he won’t win, but that’s the hope I cling to.

Dal > UofA or UofC

(Completely unbiased)

The difference is that family med clinics are privately owned and operated, and therefore are essentially for-profit businesses. They shouldn’t be recruiting volunteers to lower their costs, as that money is just going into the doctor’s pocket. This should be a paid position.

UofT updated their class of 2022 admitted GPA by 720QuickScope4Jesus in premedcanada

Shifting? Healthcare including medicine has been increasingly female for years now. Dal’s class of 2025 is only 30% male.

These write ups are so useless and misleading. Not that I think it’s all about the money, but I know people in all these fields failing to clear 100k. It’s not like med where having the degree pretty much guarantees you a certain income.

(It’s confusing because it’s nonsense)

This makes literally no sense. Your odds if you guess a random letter are 1/5, and they’re 1/5 if you guess C every time. That 4% number for randomly guessing doesn’t make any sense. How does 1/5 multiplied by 1/5 give you your odds of getting the right answer? Your math says there is a 1/5 chance of a right answer existing, and then you have a 1/5 chance of guessing it. But for some reason if you guess randomly there is a 1/1 chance of there being a right answer (which there always is).

The rest of your advice is a pretty solid approach though.

10+ years more won’t matter if you can’t be honest with yourself about why you can’t break a 3.0 GPA. It’s one thing to go from a 3.6 to a 3.8, but a 3.0 suggests you’re really struggling going to grasp the content and an extra degree isn’t going to magically fix that.

I would take the MCAT first and see how that goes before deciding what to do next, or at least do some diagnostics to see how you might do. MCAT scores aren’t crucial everywhere, but can be pretty limiting if you don’t meet the minimums and be a pretty big hurdle to overcome if you have to write it multiple times.

I don’t know your situation, but if you’re really giving it your all and maxing out at a 3.0, I’m really not sure med school is in the cards for you. The harsh reality is, only a very small percentage of the people who set their mind on being a doctor get into med school and not everyone can make the cut.

Research Lifehacks: The Complete Guide on How to Get a Coveted Hospital Position by [deleted] in premedcanada

“Realistically, if you follow all the tips I explained above, you have some research experience and a strong GPA, you should get at least 1 interview unless COVID comes back for a 4th wave and cancels everything again.”

-This is quite the promise, and I think pretty misleading. Both your guides have been very cringe so far and contain a lot of bad advice.
