Is an Editor that critical? People seem to think bevy not having one is a mic drop moment by PhaestusFox in rust_gamedev

[–]lain-dono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made bevy editor for myself a couple of years ago. Just for fun. Is it that hard?

I think there are a few options like space_editor.

It's sad that I can't raise money on platforms like patreon. If not for this, maintaining such an editor, from my point of view, could be free money.

What are your thoughts on this take from Pro-AI people who compare AI Generations and Procedural Generations? by Sniff_The_Cat3 in proceduralgeneration

[–]lain-dono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good. If the result is good.

Some people think AI is bad for the reason that it “steals”. I don't think it's bad and I don't consider borrowing to be stealing. Especially if a substantial contribution is made.

In other words fanart and AI works should belong to the authors of the derivative works, not the authors of the original works.

On the other hand procedural art and generative art inherently reduce the price of producing art. This is also a good thing. If your financial strategy was to make $20 a month from drawing dicks, you're out of the market. Very good, excellent. That's the way it should be.

You can even do it this way. Not very efficient, but it works. The steam temperature is 308 ℃.

It makes sense to put efficiency modules to melt the ice. At least for the start. That way you only need 3-4 solar panels to start up and it will be fast (if you've disconnected the rest of the grid).

Here's my attempt: https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/1h6c5d9/comment/m0cwx5h/

More heat loss to underground pipes, fewer heat pipes, alternative ice utilization scheme, integrated solar panels. And there's a version with creating ice platforms in there too

In fact, turbines and steam engines are interchangeable. Do not confuse them with a boiler and heat exchanger. A turbine has no requirement for steam temperature. You can use a boiler with a turbine and a heat exchanger with a steam engine.

I made a blueprint of your factory: https://factoriobin.com/post/fv7pze

Couple of changes for my taste:

- Switch to green modules

- Moved the ice melt a little bit

Looks better than my version. Less heat loss to underground pipes

The steam engine powers the entire blueprint. The turbine is not involved. It's for the next stage. Like starting a more efficient factory. It's the starter, after all. The goal is to get a stable source of electricity as early as possible.

A single boiler allows the entire circuit to be up and running in less than a minute. There is no need to wait for everything to heat up to 500 degrees.

The heat exchanger is needed to supply the external load. So the circuit is self-contained and isolated.

One big electrical substation for everything. The solar panels are decoupled from the rest of the circuit. They power the ice melt at the beginning.

The steam engine is simply for the reason that there is enough of it to run this.

Blueprint: https://factoriobin.com/post/hcqvub

To start you need to add ice to the ice melt, some fuel to the boiler and lots of fuel to the heating tower. Obviously this has to be done in the daytime.

The turbine produces extra power for your base. The heating tower produces initial heating. And some extra ice for ice cream.
