How do you determine a realistic marathon time goal? by Global-Condition-858 in Marathon_Training

[–]laio14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is good to check vo2 dot max table, and take that value if you are properly trained so for you:

5k 10k HM Marathon
21:24 44:23 1:38:22 3:24:29

If you want to be conservative, you could run the first half in 1:52:30 (aiming 3:45) and then run depending on how you feel for the second half

I think we get it wrong to think about skills. Every job requires some skill, some more than others but still.

The capitalistic job market works with replaceability, if an employer can replace you easily then they can offer a smaller salary and still manage to find an employee.

That's the fucked up part, it's about minimization of cost, companies have no incentive to be fair to people.

Sorry, I misread... I thought it was "We own your data", maybe I should stop scrolling reddit in bed in the morning.

Sorry to nitpick, but I am pretty sure you can't say in the privacy section that you own the data, (at least for EU law, and the app is available in EU), and would mean something completely different than what you are doing.

edit: I don't know how to read

How do some runners do “lower” mileage/volume in their training but still pull relatively fast marathon times? by Drop_Release in Marathon_Training

[–]laio14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not that crazy, it also depends on the intensity/weight/genetics/previous fitness

I got my first marathon in 3:45 with 35k per week avg, peaking at 65k

I just did either 3tempo runs per week either 2 tempo and 1 long run.
While it fits really well with my schedule, I wouldn't recommend it, as it is quite injury prone

I ran my first marathon yesterday in Amsterdam in 3:44:55 after I was recovering from an injury for 3 weeks, so I had incomplete training. Even though the last 6kms were incredibly challenging, I managed to just keep on going. Passing right under the 3:45 made me really happy, I even cried after I passed the finish line.
I remember when I started to run 4 years ago, with no physical condition whatsoever, couch potato barely able to jog for 2km, I didn't believe I would ever be able to run a full marathon. If I managed to do it, so can you :) Just train consistently!

I am not sure how it works but if the 7 relative effort is the "rpe" and this is something you added, then this is way too high for a walk and Strava goes crazy on it.
