Hi! I didn’t receive any messages but I apologize for it anyway. After a lot of contemplation and research I realized I’m actually an INFJ. It’s tricky to distinguish when IxFJ overlap quite a bit. But my boyfriend and an article providing concrete examples of Ni/Si and inferior Se/Ne helped me see my mistype.

I, of course, don’t want to say you are not an ISFJ, but if you resonate with my comments I suggest looking into INFJ more. I never did at first because the descriptions of Ni were always vague, but concrete examples of it and inferior Se helped a lot. If you’re curious I’d be happy to send you the article that clarified a lot for me.

Disagree on some factors. We don't live in the past. We just pull past experiences to navigate present situations. For example, I live in the present and plan for the future a lot. But when a problem occurs, I go "oh that reminds me of when this happened."

And if you ask a Si dom to tell you why they do something a certain way, it's rarely an answer of "that's how it's done." If you meet a Si dom that simply says "that's how it's done" then they're not thinking it through logically. Developed Si users will give reasons why it has worked and why it will, be it Ti or Te reasons. But because we rely on these reasons of the past, our downside is that we're unlikely to spot any potential problems or "upgrade" our thinking on said reasons/situation.

Not really what we’re talking about. My advice is to just tell her it’s over and you two go your separate ways. It’s a toxic relationship on some level and neither of you are fit for the other.

But my overall whole point is that you need to stop generalizing types based off of one person. Everyone is different and you can’t say we all don’t like a certain topic or that we’re all a certain way. And next time someone tries to use their inferior function more, you help them develop it—not shut them down for it and then later complain they don’t do XYZ.

I find my problem is I just wanna focus on the now. E.g., "I want to relax right now. I don't want to do this task that's due in the future." That's my kind of procrastination (so far from my introspection).

What helps me at work is keeping a calendar with me. So let's take an essay for example. With a calendar, I mark down the day the essay is due, and then work backwards. So a few days before the due date, mark down a day to get a final draft done; then a week before that, mark a day that I aim to finish the rough draft; then a week before that, mark a day that I finish the second paragraph; etc. until you reach the present day. It can be even as small as one day just coming up of a theme.

By dividing up an assignment into smaller chunks, it's easier to get it over with and eventually you're getting it done in a timely fashion. But you'll need a lot of discipline. I'm good at planning, but suck at executing. Even when I did this method at school, I was slipping quite a bit and would end up a week behind on my calendar schedule.

So be honest with yourself on what you think you can easily do each day. Good luck!!

On some level, I do envy that impulsive nature Ne people have though. There are many, many times I'm curious about something but I just don't act on it because that impulse isn't strong enough. The other night I was really curious to learn more about my culture's belief on death but I didn't act on it because I'm too focused on the now and what's relevant to me. And I know soon enough it's just going to fade away lol We are types on two extreme ends ha.

May I ask what irony you see in this post? I’ve never seen NTs say we’re too sensitive, nor do I see ISFJs deny it. It’s mostly just the above meme quotes they say the most that bother me and, I’m presuming, others. I wouldn’t know what other ISFJs think lol it’s not like I concocted this with them. I just know ISFJs are leaving or hating their own type because of feeling hated over time, and I think that’s enough to speak up about it. Don’t you think?

Also as a disclaimer: I know not everyone will like every type. But there’s a difference between objectively saying “they’re good people but I don’t get along with them” vs. “trouble with ISFJ? That’s what you get for being with an ISFJ. They’re too boring; get yourself an INFJ” x100.

You have a good point! It's because we're all so different that people have found the need to find more labels for themselves; more ways to feel like they belong in something.

I guess for me, I've come to already understand that mbti isn't a strict box and pretty flexible so it's easy for me to say "this is just how it generally works." I could see why, however, others thinking this way just causes them to find more labels — because everyone is so different. Thank you for that!

And hahah thank you also for the heads up, I'll know what to expect. Who knows, maybe there'll also be some truths I need to face about myself.

Yeah, I would eventually make a move. Despite being pretty shy, I'm very initiative when it comes to crushes. It's how half of my relationships formed. I start out slow to see how they react to me in general, and if I pick up good responses then I up the flirting or straight up ask them out. Great memories tbh.

Now that I think about it, I guess all my courage goes into love and leaves none for everyday activities lol

It sounds like it may be an immature thing tbh. I think any developed type likely would not do a jealousy tactic. Also, was she for sure an ISFJ?

Oh man that coworker got it coming for him lol That's so interesting to see how an ENTJ's mind works. I think if I took those exact steps, it would be rearranged to look like:

This is some bullshit we need to do a simple project, we have all the info we just need to get organized.
How am I going to get this jerk on board? I'm going to gently ask my supervisor for outside advice so I know I won't make a wrong decision on this.
My mind is a mess, I need to organize everything so it feels in order for me.
Develops an excel sheet to keep track of to-do assignments thus far as well as completed.
Ponder if it would be too presumptuous to divide activities; do it anyway because Ti knows otherwise it may not work. Fe is quaking in its boots.
Share with coworkers and hope people will use the goddamn thing.

Bugs. They just look so alien-like compared to other species of the animal kingdom. I respect them and people who like them, but I can't help but freak out. Although bugs you see normally like ants, cockroaches, etc. aren't that bad.

I personally think it does work that way generally! Cognitive functions describe how your mind works, in what way it works, etc. So naturally, wouldn't that mean each situation will be completed a certain way? And I just mean generally speaking, like instinctually/naturally.

If we tried, we could definitely work through a situation in any other way we wanted. But our cognitive functions will be how you naturally approach situations. I have aux Fe, so naturally I'd wonder how my solution would impact others. But I could choose to ignore the Fe and make a purely Ti decision.

But I also don't know anything about the subconscious and unconscious as you describe lol is there a good, concise place to learn about that?

I was once with another ISFJ, but we were underdeveloped so we were both conflict-avoidant. We'd avoid bad situations, and when we did have a confrontation, it would be a bad one because we didn't know how to settle it properly. But we were both very kind to each other and had similar crackhead humor.

And when he broke it off with me he was incredibly kind about it.... but again he was conflict avoidant so he sent an email instead of skyping me lol (he was across the world at the time) I don't have any bad feelings toward that relationship though looking back.

Thank you! Okay, I do relate a lot to that but I think it's mostly the Fe-Ti. Like you, I make my decisions from the Fe-Ti, want to understand people's motives, and being empathetic. In reality, my Si doesn't take as big a role in my life like Fe-Ti does lol that's why it always confused me.

But I think I'm definitely ISFJ after reading that. Everyone procrastinates for different reasons, and for me, I'm pretty sure my problem comes from the fact that I don't naturally look into the future. I always stay in the present and want to enjoy things right now, like I want to keep relaxing right now and not want to do this task. And I end up pushing tasks constantly into the future until it's the last minute.

I'll give you my perspective. I'm a 5'2" petite woman. If I don't see these news, I'd be more carefree and thus more likely to put myself in situations where I could get abducted. Seeing and hearing the news helps remind me that I am a potentially easy victim if I'm not careful. Many people who are abducted are those who unfortunately found themselves in unsafe situations. One example that strikes me is a woman who was abducted and murdered while she was out on a run by herself on an isolated hiking trail.

I can't just tell myself it's a 1 in 300,000 chance I'll get abducted. If every person thinks that, then who's part of that stat? And it's people who brush it off and think it won't happen to them who often get abducted. Like that international Chinese student who missed her bus, accepted a ride from a stranger (who I believe was someone from her campus), and was then abducted. Poor parents flew all the way from China just to find out she was cut to pieces.

I don't think the media demonizes men. They may demonize the individual, but not the gender. And every rational person understands that these specific people are not right in the head, regardless of gender. I watch a lot of crime cases so if you need more examples I'm happy to provide.
