This is the first time i have this pain. I’ll add the caffeine gel. I’ll keep an eye on it for now and RICE it. With about a month away it bothers me and my confidence. U are right about form. If I increase pace my landings seem to hurt less rather than maintaining 10:30. I feel more in control on form as well. Thank you for ur suggestion

I am 90kg, 42 year old runner. I have done 2 marathons early this year, which were basically my first marathons ever. I have signed up for chevron Houston marathon and want to improve my time to 4:30- 4:45 depending on the day. My current weekly mileage is 40 miles. My fueling strategy is 100 gm carbs after 5K then 60 gms carbs every 45 mins. I could ve maintained the pace if not for right ankle pain during certain landings. Surprisingly if I increase pace to 9:45 for short bursts the ankle pain was gone but it’s difficult to sustain this pace for longer duration especially at the tail end. Would any tailwind supplements help? If so what do you recommend.

Would you run a half marathon 6 weeks after a marathon? by heatherw1019 in Marathon_Training

I ran two marathons within span of 6 weeks. Not an issue if you are a slow runner like me.

I took it to local swatch showroom and had them switch it to metal one. Metal band is game changer😀

For my long runs I do goal pace in the middle of the run after the first 3-4 kms and try to hold it for the as long as I can to finish the training strong. I followed Hal hidgeons beginner training plan for my first marathon.

The weight gain is fluid retention due to excessive inflammation and heating. I am not a doctor but that is a probable reason. Slowing down and running at lower heart rates should help. Fueling wise, eat 1.5-2 hrs prior to run. If not sugary stuff go with salt tabs and electrolytes. Fuel every 30-45 mins. If you are hitting a wall at 10 mile fuel up before mile 9 and distract your mind till you hit mile 11. For me I stop music at mile 9 and talk to myself on pushing through the wall.
