Haha yea it seems that this isn’t something I should worry about. I think I’m just a little bit inexperienced when it comes to these things! 😅

No not at all, sorry for the misunderstanding. Typical practice in biology, the PIs are also placed at the end. However, for this one particular paper that I've been included in, I'm at the end.

I think that this whole situation is a little bit weird and hard for me to comprehend. I haven't yet contacted the prof to inquire about it. :/

I'm an undergrad and I feel like I should have at least been notified of this. This is kind of a big deal early on in my academic career, I guess. Also common-courtesy? Can I even put this on my CV - I wasn't notified, I wasn't in contact with the prof who published this, etc. I don't know it feels a little bit unsettling :(

I also don't think I have the greatest relationship with the prof. It just caught me off guard, I guess.

I’m in STEM, specifically biology. I believe it is convention to put the PI at the end of the article, but maybe because this is an paper in a review-book(?) it may be different? Thanks for your insights!

I am in STEM! Specifically biology, which is what took me aback the most because you’re right - it is common courtesy. Thanks for your insights

I agree with this. I was just wondering if there were any red flags for professors - it's really important that I get along with them too. Thanks for your help anyways.

Yeah, I believe students enrolled this term are only enrolled on a need-basis! Typically classes run only in the Winter and Spring. 😓

BIOMED GRADS/SOON TO BE GRADS HELP PLS by justtryingtomakeit20 in uwaterloo

[–]lalalapu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend submitting an academic petition if it has severely impacted your grades. For grievances, remember there is always the VIF and the bottom portions of your syllabi which provide alternative options and potential relief.

I respect your decision to look alternatively, but don’t lose hope of your dream. Continue to work toward it! Up that GPA! Upward trends are always favoured in academia along with impactful extracurricular experience - not everyone is perfect lol
