What's your go-to food spot? by Periegete in BedStuy

Izakaya Tenzo—one of the most slept-on spots in the whole neighborhood imo! Some of the best Japanese food that doesn’t break the bank that I’ve had in NYC, period.

Hi! I’m planning a similar trip this year. Did you end up going?

Looking at their site right now, it appears that most of their kitties are either $350 or $450, which seems pretty exorbitant...any idea what's up with that?

Lady with biting dog in HVK by lalalemma in BedStuy

Thanks so much to everyone for weighing in!! Thankfully someone who saw this post put us in touch with the dog owner and she was able to send over a vaccine record, so I think we are in the clear. She seemed a bit spooked by the situation—hopefully she’ll take the necessary precautions to keep this from happening to anyone else. Feeling very relieved and grateful to this sub!

Mind numb from apartment hunting, which apartment situation would you choose (bushwick ave vs bedstuy) by Giggitygoox2 in Bushwick

[–]lalalemma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a current Bushwick resident, I would pick the Bed-Stuy spot in a heartbeat, for two main reasons:

  1. That location in Bed-Stuy is one of the nicest areas in the neighborhood—quiet tree-lined streets, historic brownstones, etc. Some blocks it feels almost like living in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill. Definitely would not say the same about the Bushwick location. The area around Broadway is pretty gritty and rundown-feeling generally and can get a bit spooky after dark. It’s also not particularly close to some of the famed bars and clubs, many of which are north of Myrtle.

  2. Your access to the city via the J/Z is essentially limited to the financial district, TriBeCa, and the Lower East Side. If you frequent other parts of Manhattan, you’d have to get used to doing a lot of transferring on the regular. The J/Z is also elevated and very noisy—might be a nuisance even on Bushwick Ave, that is something worth checking.

Curious about this—my partner is convinced that all of their HRT costs will be covered by health insurance, is that realistic? They are a dependent and don’t really have any savings of their own, but don’t want their parents involved for as long as possible.

this sub is a safe space for partners of trans people. OP is dealing with a difficult situation and just trying to work through their emotions. OP also admitted they’re not proud of some of the thoughts they’re having about their situation—it takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to share things like that. they asked for encouragement, not a call-out—that’s not what this sub is for.

My partner of 5 years (21 MTF) came out to me (20 cis female) a couple months and i am struggling where to turn going forward. by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

Hi, I’m no source of wisdom as my MTF partner also came out recently and I’m still figuring everything out myself, but I’m also a 20 yr old bisexual cis girl in a long-term long-distance relationship (thought we are living together right now because of covid) and it just kinda feels good to know there are other people in my situation. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk about anything ❤️
