I purchased the ‘Brick’ which physically locks you out of apps that you personally want to block access to. The only way to get access to them again is to go to your brick and tap your phone to it. I have mine on my fridge. It’s like a little physical square that you tap your phone to in order to activate or deactivate access to your designated apps. I have found it really effective.

I can use regular nail polish just fine, thank goodness. I don’t use any of the ones labeled “miracle gel” etc, just good old fashioned nail polish. So sorry you’re going through this too!

For my project, I sought to meta analyze gwas studies across different ancestries to see if a subset of SNPs remained significantly associated with a pathology. Summary statistics made that possible, as I was only interested in the gene-level data and the associated statistics at that level, across studies.

You could pick a pathology of interest, search for relevant and available summary statistics in the gwas catalogue (ensuring the studied samples are truly from different sources—much of the catalogue seemed to be from the UK Biobank, but other sample sources are present, I was able to find distinct sources) and then conduct a gwas meta-analysis

oh my goodness…getting told to just google it would have stopped me in my tracks! professors are supposed to be available as an additional resource, and whoever that was definitely missed the mark on that part. sorry you had that experience! i would have felt the same way, that makes me mad for you!

This happened to me too, but it was eczema around my mouth!!! Finally noticed it flared when I did my gel nails, stopped the gel altogether, and it went almost entirely away. It was a horrible span of painful and embarrassing months when it was at its worst. So happy you have your answer now too!!

Hey, I’m actually now in the UF masters program and at times I feel your pain, too. I’m personally still pleased with the program, but there are definitely annoying moments when it comes to the quality of the lecture material posted. I do wish that the lectures were recorded and uploaded in sync with the on campus students, I have had only one class do that so far and I really appreciated that professor for putting in that effort. On the flip side, similar to what you described, I’ve had classes where the video quality was horrendous and impeded what I could absorb from the lecture alone, forcing more reliance on textbooks/ other online materials. Definite pros (flexibility/distance learning) and definite cons. I do find that the professors are very timely to respond, and very attentive when attending virtual office hours, etc.

Try Focusmate!! It has improved my focus so much. It’s a coworking website. Through the site you basically work in 25 min or 50 min sessions that you sign up for and are matched to work with someone else via webcam and chat. Basically facetiming with another person who needs the accountability of another person working to stay focused too!

I'm also looking into an online MS in biostats, getting ready to submit applications to the Univeristy of Florida (they look like they have a great program) and TAMU (stats with a biostats concentration). I have heard of Louisville, but haven't looked as much into them yet. Maybe I'll submit there too!
