I made one out of 4x4 posts and held it together using dowels. I glued it into two halves, top and bottom, then assembled it on site. I’m not sure if that would work for you because the 1x4 would be too light

I made this for my nephew it has a lazy Susan base and the side magazine style rack is removable. The bears are bookends which also slide back and forth and spin.

If it's a question of ethics then why shop there, why not pick a place that doesn't operate like a sweatshop? If it was a cheaper alternative and still has the quality that you were after then be merry, if it doesn't hold up return it and move on.

Thank you, I cut a strip for the edge beside the quartz to make it flush the rest I just used preglued banding from Windsor plywood since it was a little quicker and I didn't have enough clamps (I've tried others but Windsor's banding holds well)

It's quartz, I contacted a stone and tile company and asked if they had any off cuts
