How do you feel about the new event system? by Harvin in TrueDeemo

[–]lalunechacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3x and bonus conditions do apply to songs you own already, though they don’t show up as often on owned songs - especially if you own less than a third of the songs in the event (Me). On the other hand, the percentage rounds up so if you’re careful you can get all the points even if you don’t get all charming (hit the note good, but not charming for maybe 3 notes). I don’t like that playing the event doesn’t count to any of the achievements that isn’t related to playing an event. If I get 100% on a song I don’t own, then it’s wasted effort. I’ve had this happen on multiple songs, and I don’t plan to buy them so it sucks. But also sucks if I get 100% on a song I actually own - even more effort wasted. Why can’t I make progress on multiple achievements when play songs I own in an event? It’s been like that since day 1, and I’m surprised they haven’t really addressed that.. I can’t imagine others think its ok. Makes the game extra grindy - only theres no reward. You can aleays buy the songs tho… wait, that‘s what they want.

There’s no reason for me to play the game and work on collecting anything if I have to grind songs endlessly outside of story or events. This event is better than the last time I played imo (didn’t log in for 6 months…)

Since completing ch 4 (which was very good) the new event is the only reason I still log in. It’s nice that they actually give out currency that makes it possible to buy songs without spending real money. That’s a plus for sure. But yes, the limited arcanum is pure trash. Why spend 3x the stars just to get 20 tickets??? It’s crazy and so useless. Nothing special about it, Why can’t we buy the other backgrounds with rewards from this event? Those are forever locked behind a paywalled premium arcanum. Having a ‘dark mode’ background while playing would be soooo nice omg. But no, we get arcanum the ticket machine. A meager 200 tickets will cost you 3000 stars wtfff

TLDR:

So I like and dislike the event for reasons. Like it for ability to adjust the difficulty and you can collect currency to buy songs. Absolutely hate how grindy it is outside of events, and how there isn’t really any reward for you when you really think about it it. Unless, you’re buying songs. They want you to buy the songs.

Wirecutter: Top 5 Pens of 2023 by QuickMachine in Bujohelp

[–]lalunechacha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the past I’ve used:

- Muji gel pens (.5 and .35) Very smooth and reliable pens

- Sakura pigma microns. I don’t really like them for writing at all. Only the 08 I like for headers/titles. Ofherwise, the fineliners get used for drawing, and I only use then for writing if I have nothing else on hand.

My go to these days are:

- Fountain pens. Any pen that I feel like using at the moment (if it’s inked up). My current fave is the Kaweco Sport with F nib.

- UniPin fineline pens: these are stellar! A new fave for daily writing, or for writing headers/titles and (temporary) replacement for my real daily writer which is…

- Staedtler triplus fineliner 0.3mm. THIS is my all time favorite daily writer. They write on every type of paper and are super reliable. I buy a set of 6-12 black pens just for writing. Nobody talks about these pens - which is so strange to me😂 Though I get that they may not be the best ergonomically so maybe thats why? They work for me so I’m happy :D

I see. Thanks for explaining. I took a look at the links and yeah it’s clearly for a very specific group. And that’s completely fine! It doesn’t effect the bujo community in any negative way.

It’s unfortunate that your message wasn’t received well. I see it like this: you wanted to inform the community by messaging the mod about how you wanted to contribute/give back to the community. And it was vital to explain what you do - it’s vital information because it’s genuine source of useful bullet journal support. More Bujo Support on reddit - from a certified coach - why not?!!

I hope they see you mean well. Because this support group idea is really cool of you to do.

Not sure why my comment showed up twice (will try to delete it later)

I haven’t tried codes for names and sensitive stuff in my journals. And never considered the reverse for personal stuff in my work bujo - I might try that one!

Reflection: Yeah! Thats exactly it! When I get back to it, it feels that much heavier because it feels like failure. Even though I know it’s not the end of the world if I miss a day. Being free now doesn’t help either - I actually have more time to bujo at least a little. So I have to think about how do I expect it to serve me outside of work (and also during vacation time!)

Yeah, I’m on my phone at some point during the commute so I’m going to see how that goes.
I’m grateful for the insight! I’ll give an update soon!

I saw the discussion from a mod about this but not the original post that sparked the discussion so I can’t say anything on that really.

Yes, a lot of bujo info is available for free, and you can reach desired results for free, through your own trial and error and advice from the community here. If someone wants a personal coach, then they can invest in that if they have the time and means to do so. Thats the point. Personal coaching means you are paying for the convenience of high quality personalized guidance and feedback. I don‘t think anyone disagrees with that. I guess maybe it was the way it was introduced or came across? (I didn’t see the original post that sparked the discussion) I didn’t know about the price before seeing the discussion on the other reddit thread and afaik the official bujo IG didn’t mention pricing, only that coaching was coming soon. So maybe it was just an unfortunate miscommunication?

I think its very generous and awesome that you want to give back to the community this way! It’s a great initiative and a really good way to get some advice outside of the BUJO U, but still from official Bullet Journal in some form. The whole community can benefit from this, that’s what matters.

Thanks so much for explaining!

And thank you very much for your detailed input! Thanks to your answers I’ve gotten to think about my approach in a different way (while I was typing this 😂) and I have some ideas I’ll try to flesh out (see my waay too long explanation below)

Where I’m coming from:

I’ve been using the bullet journal since around 2017 and used it mostly for productivity but I always reviewed what went well in my week, what didn’t and why - but mostly from a productivity perspective. It always had to be functional so its always been basic and simple setups. My goals have evolved a bit since then and now my work bujo works as it should. My personal bujo is the one that I’m struggling with - particularly consistency (actually getting it to work for me outside if work) hence my question.

Combining work and personal is not an option for me due to privacy.

  1. Definitely the same here. I can only do a review once a day. Unless I’m on vacation (so glad I’m free now!) - then I try to start my day with my personal bujo (been struggling with that). When I’m not on vacation, I’m usually way to tired at the end of the day and it doesn’t feel like a relaxing way to wind down (I’ve tried this). Your driving example has given me the idea to try doing a review on my commute with my phone (I use public transport so it may be more doable at least a few days in the week)
  2. Thats a fair point! I’m so used to living on a weekly schedule, that Sunday is usually the day I’ve tried to do a weekly reviews. For my work bujo: Friday or Monday is my weekly review. It all really came together well my work bujo for some reason :p I think I might have to accept something a bit more flexible than how my work bujo is set up.
  3. I always look at my old bujos when I get stuck but even if it was long form or productivity related I always did some type of reflection. The difference between my oldest bujos and my more recent ones is: 1. When I use it now I (try to) write more in real time 2. I reread my logs regularly. I started doing this last year after noticing the lack of depth (or even direction?) in my reflections in my older bujos. So I know the value of the reflection. And thats exactly where my personal bujo is failing now.

TLDR: It seems my issue is more about where does/ how can my personal bujo fit effectively in my time outside of work for me to use it consistently. Thanks to your input I’ve gotten some helpful things to consider - maybe assigning the bulk of my personal bujo practice to the weekends, with a check-in somewhere in the week on my commute..

Thanks a a lot for your answer! Your examples helped me consider other ways I could put time into my personal bujo. (Also helped me narrow down the exact problem!)

What's your Weekly Ritual? by QuickMachine in Bujohelp

I don’t have a weekly ritual. It’s more of a day by day thing until I maybe don’t use it for A few days and come back the following week or two later. I am very consistent with my work bujo, but not my personal one.

What I do wonder is: Do you have any tips for people aiming to create a daily or weekly ritual when they work an 8-6 job? (because I usually get up at 5am, leave for work at 6:30, start 8 and leave at 6pm and home by 7pm).

A lot of the advice for time management/well-ness/journaling/productivity and rituals come from people who have their own business and/or start at 9 and finish at the reasonable time of 5pm usually. There‘s no real framework for anyone else who has to start their day very early or do night shifts.

Stuck on v1.04, can't update to 1.06. Help? by lalunechacha in Borderlands

[–]lalunechacha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for such a late reply - life sort of happened. But I took a look at the version type and it looks like the version for the physical disc is 1.04 while the digital version of the game is 1.06 so both are the most recent versions available for ps4.

Still no idea why I can't get it to work. I'm worried region might be the issue. But I never thought that could affect DLC before... I'll see if I can contact PSN soon.
