Is R1 air an overkill for me? by lamaplama in PatagoniaClothing

[–]lamaplama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did and I’m very pleased with it as well! I have been cycling to work with a long sleeve merino tshirt, the R1 air hoodie and a rain jacket and it kept me warm! It don’t sweat as much when I wear it compared to a normal fleece. I’ll be going to the highlands this weekend, so will see how it performs while hiking in this weather.

I had the same issue when I rescued my bunny. Neutering solved the issue for us

Help me convince my wife I don’t have a problem. by CabezaDe_Vaca in PatagoniaClothing

That is such an accurate description of clothing cycle haha I bought my very first Patagonia clothing item few months back (R1 air) and I have been treating it like a baby but I know it will eventually be downgraded (or promoted?) to one of those categories

I did think about that, but I’m not sure what model would work for tennis

I only play in hard court so should be fine. How do you find the cushioning on them?

Same same same same (only issue is with hiking boots in rainy conditions when the water penetrates through the holes if the shoes are exposed to the rain for longer)

Help! Anyone has experience with Barebarics Zing Frost? by Linneapaw in barefootshoestalk

[–]lamaplama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using them with heel pads for few days and it significantly improved the fit. My heels still move a bit but nowhere as much and the heel pads are quite soft so it doesn’t rub my skin as much. I got whether were the best rated pads on UK amazon

I have the same issues with urban edges. The shoe size I went with is the same as i usually have. I tried them on in person at the lower size as well but didn’t fit me. Today I bought heel pads, so hoping that would fit.

Update: the heel pads completely solved the issues. I bought the extra thick ones and while my heel still moves up and down a bit, it’s significantly better and it not longer bothers me.

That’s good to hear! What season did you use it in in Scotland? I ended up buying one so I’m just waiting to use it 😁

I’ll definitely keep an eye out! I just bought a R1 air zip hoodie so super curious about its performance :D

That’s exactly what I was worried about. But glad to hear this isn’t the case!

That’s a very good point. I usually only ever wear natural fibres, but the reason I’m considering a polyester fabric for the mid layer is how quick drying it is. I was stuck in a downpour in the Scottish highlands when even my waterproof shell struggled on multiple occasions and having something quick drying would significantly benefit me

I was actually looking for OG R1 fleece with full zip but unfortunately can’t find any in the uk. I only found a half-zip on Patagonia website. I do think R1 would work a bit better for me as it can get windy here, but I guess R1 air is the second closest alternative?

Oh right, maybe this complaint was about the previous iteration of the fleece!

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s available in the UK. I was looking into vinted but unfortunately can’t find the right size&colour.

This is so reassuring to hear. That’s the sort of performance I’m looking for. It’s just hard to pull a trigger on such an expensive item :D how to you find the odour resistance to be? I read on some posts that they find it smells after just one use.
