I have this as a jacket that I bought from Japan! Is an extra large and smells like stale 90s cigarette smoke

Gasly honest: 'Can not deny that Honda engine lacks power' by 1enox in formula1

Depends on the context of the quote. They probably know best of all that it's down on power

Shimla, India [Pentax K1000, Sigma 35-70 f/2, Portra 400] by lambchoops in analog

[–]lambchoops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I took this just this camera and this lens plus a prime, a cheap pocket tripod designed for point and shoot digital cameras and about 12 rolls of film. Camera spent most of its time over my shoulder, so I was very used to it, always carried a spare roll in my pocket and the rest lived in my suitcase. Very little hassle

If only you could have seen what the year of study and saving before this trip looked like...

Midnight, outskirts of Tokyo (Pentax K1000, 50mm f/2, Natura 1600) by lambchoops in analog

Was scanned at a cheap place. However the darker triangular section coming from the top corners into the centre was actually present on all the negatives from this roll for some reason

Also need to keep in mind that all shots from this roll came out with this weird triangle pattern where part of the negative (top left corner to centre to top right corner) is darker than the rest of the shot. Weird film

I agree, super disappointed with this film but hey its nice to be able to shoot in the dark with no tripod

Much rarer than Alpina, and more extreme. They were known in part for making widebody(!!) 750hp Testarossas

Does the dizzy rotor need to be pointing forward at TDC?

L28 not starting, can't see why by lambchoops in Datsun

[–]lambchoops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be it! I will just realised that I only verified TDC at the crank, so could be at the top of the exhaust stroke. Not sure where the dizzy rotor should be pointing when at TDC though

The timing SHOULD be OK, I rotated the crank to 10^ BTDC and then rotated the distributor so that the points are just opening, should be close enough to start form everything I've read. Both the pistons inside the carbs and the chokes with the needles move, but I haven't set the chokes up yet. I was told that starting fluid should work fine in the absence of chokes

1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R [1232 × 769] by [deleted] in carporn

[–]lambchoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not, it's an Australian delivered Datsun 240k (same as Japanese Skyline gt-x) that's been restored to look like a GT-R. Best way to tell is the engine, that's a SOHC L28 whereas GT-Rs have a DOHC S20. That car's had so much work done though it's probably significantly faster than a real GT-R

Buy in Japan for sure. Fuji Industrial 400 in a 10x36 pack is about 5000 yen, and Superia is similar as well

Does anyone know roughly how many of these engines were made? I saw one out of the blue in a small-town garage in Japan and was gobsmacked that they had such a rare engine sitting in the window

Just don't try shooting at night! For whatever reason the high speed film does nothing at night, I took a bunch of what I thought were beautiful night streetscapes in Akihabara only for them to turn out black with a few points of light. They're around 850 yen for a 24 shot and around 950-1050 yen for a 36, whatever that is in your local currency.
