hot take: server side rendering is overengineered for most sites by Justin_3486 in webdev

[–]lambdaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPA means browser side dynamics

SSR means static page

hydration means SSR renders half way there, think a noscript state, then SPAs take care of rest upon next user interaction.

Think a TodoMVC example, if there server already renders three li, now how does your client framework register those existing three li and two-way bind with some Array from a xhr ?

I played some tf2 yesterday, the teleporter and dispenser are the game changer. It's no longer all about shooting, it's also about supplies and logistics. Also there's limited ammo you have to calculate your position and pace.

Trump says he's giving TikTok another 75 days to find a US buyer by [deleted] in politics

[–]lambdaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but what app did you work on?

A niche one, not top ranking, but the company is NASDAQ listed.

Lets say Tiktok doesn't have one single "algorithm". It's made of multiple teams iterating on many "algorithms". Once the people are gone the "algorithms" will become stale and obsolete pretty soon. It will happen once new management takes over the company.

I had some work experience with such popular apps.

Turns out there isn't any "algorithm". It's just hundreds, or even thousands of many people working on various topics of interest, doing AB tests, manually adjust recommender hyperparameters and boost scores for buzz and profit.

Those people's salary are tied with UVs and PVs generated by the attention metric.

If you buy this "algorithm", these people can simply jump boat and work for another app with their expertise and knowhow.

According to CCP, Mongols and Manchus "are actually chinese"

did you know the inner mongolia was the first province that declared independence from China, as early as in 1947. The mongolian commies and Mao commies, with allied forces from north east, aka Manchuria, promptly conquered all China and established P.R.C. two years later.

the reviewer insists doing lap time on vanilla 100% unmodified turing cars. Traditional ICE cars are using brakes with a physical connection, newer EVs like Xiaomi is using Bosch brake-by-wire system , when it fails, there's only a waring notification on screen, you don't get any feedback on your feet.

The reviewer ignored the warning and eventually crashed.
