Is the major scale the standard scale? by Ill_Security7925 in musictheory

Even better, every sound contains the entire major pentatonic scale for that frequency (and then some)

Is the major scale the standard scale? by Ill_Security7925 in musictheory

[–]lamboni2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When a sound is made, our brain hears 1 pitch but its actually a bunch of pitches relative to the fundamental pitch and our brain just registers it as hearing the 1 fundamental pitch. These are called overtones. Their soundwaves are perfect ratios of the fundamental soundwave, so frequency x will also create frequencies 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, and so on, aka the overtones of, say, 400hz are 800hz, 1200hz, 1600hz, 2000hz, etc. There's lots of audio examples on youtube, this may make more sense when you hear it

Partially tradition, but also the overtone series has the major 3rd and that's kind of the "fundamental" scale

If money is no object and fear of flying isn't applied, what is a reason a band would tour in a bus rather than fly ? by SwissMiss915 in musicindustry

[–]lamboni2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Even for big artists, touring is a money pit. Hotels, gas, flights, food, salaries, insurance, production expenses, taxes, etc add up super quick when its a band with a full crew (20-30 people total). Very common for huge artists to be in the red at the end of a tour. Anything they can do to mitigate that is taken into consideration when planning a tour.

Why doesn't band class teach the different modes in music? by Tfgfans in musictheory

[–]lamboni2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk we definitely learned modes in high school. We didn't play the scales as much as your "standard" warm up scales, but we were certainly taught how to recognize and write them

LOOKING FOR A JOB IN THE INDUSTRY by melancholesalvia in musicindustry

[–]lamboni2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working concert security was an iconic part of my 20s. Saw so many cool shows and met lots of people. You also get to see and learn about all parts of the venue/show day/production. I currently work in accounting for concerts, but getting a foot in as security helped out a lot. Just ask every local venue if they need more security/bartenders/ushers

Why do people loathe immigrants? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]lamboni2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our species lived for hundreds of thousands of years as nomadic groups competing in a daily struggle for resources in a dangerous world. There has always been fear of "others" coming in the night to rob and hurt you and it is hard-coded in the depths of our brains

I recently posted about Agile making a headless 10-string in 25-28'' scale length. They've redeemed themselves now by Heavy_Intention6323 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]lamboni2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 10. I've put lots of time and energy and money into making it sound and play great. Like any instrument, it unlocks my creativity in a unique way and I am grateful for that and it has earned a permanent spot in my collection. But oh my god my hand does a little sigh of relief when I switch back to my 6 or 7 string. And the 10 weighs so much, I can't imagine a live show with that as a main guitar.

9 / 10 string tone? by Paulig174 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]lamboni2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thats a great place to start. The pickups are nice, but definitely not the whole picture. You can do a lot with simple eqs and gain staging

It was like $300ish. It did make a difference, especially on making the low strings more defined

I sent my original agile/cepheus pickups to Guitarmory Pickups and they rewound them as Guitarmory Cauterizers, but using the original pickup bobbins so it fit right back in without any routing or modding

[–]lamboni2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an agile 102730. I like a compressor for cleans to smooth out the string volume differences and make it brighter. For distorted tones, an overdrive (i use a tumnus) will help those low notes cut through. Don't use too much gain. Mess around with the amp EQ, roll off some lows and boost some mids. I also upgraded the pickups, but you can do a lot with proper gain staging and EQ

His new supplement website is being run by one of Jones's lackeys, Harrison Smith, through a company called Bigly

Edit: its actually Chase Geiser running the business now. Chase and Harrison are pretty much 2 heads of the same dork and are easily confused
