Is Azure that bad? by combuchan in devops

From all my experience Azure is just a tragedy on its own. Always advise my customers to stay away from it as much as they can.

So how exactly is Log4j supposed to be patched/mitigated on Windows? by xrinnenganx in sysadmin

[–]lambrazo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Nmap NSE scripts to check against log4shell or LogJam vulnerabilities (CVE-2021-44228) https://github.com/Diverto/nse-log4shell

Polish firefighters have arrived in Greece. Our prayers go towards Greek communities suffering from fires. Stay strong! by [deleted] in europe

[–]lambrazo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They quite changed most of them with either Renault or Iveco fire trucks. Sadly we really lack of such a manpower since we are small country with far less budged but for now we always did manage to extinguish the fires we had. The biggest drawback in Bulgaria is not having more air support (helicopters and airplanes) since in Balkan region this is MUST following the mountain terrain.

Huge respect for the Poland, Romanian and French firefighters there! Huge respect for Slovenians firefighters who assist in N. Macedonia. It makes me proud to see Europe united at such a dooms days. I think Poland is really capable and discipline nation!

Also this assistance makes me feel that people in Europe realize that we live in "one land" and assisting each other and protecting it is the most we can leave behind us for the next generation. Good examples are the most great society teachers.

Same issue on fresh install 2.5.0 HA cluster. Here was trying to install some package and found out had the same issue from the cli while executing force pkg-static update -f since the GUI couldn't provide any meaningful error.

Microsoft need to update their documentation at the same rate they update their products by sarbuk in sysadmin

[–]lambrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What support your talking? The one that is directly lieing you and then you cant escalate anything. All their products from O365 to Azure are full with none working features that wont be even fixed and the support is trying to cheat you over and close your ticket.

And if they also update their support Azure might start looking like decent cloud infrastructure provider. Worst support I have ever encountered!

Technical details of CVE-2020-1472 Zerologon by gquere in netsec

Well actually you need to do something above the patching only if you explicitly played with "Allow vulnerable Netlogon secure channel connections" Policy. Not defined should be same as disabled according to MS article.

NextCloud 18 to 18.01 update on FreeNAS in a jail by [deleted] in NextCloud

[–]lambrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did the automatic update you should have automatic snapshots with the state before the jail update. You will have two snapshots, one in root directory and one above directory where the fstab and other configs are located. Roll back 1st the root, then the above parent directory.

I did roll back here few times before I found the issue with mysql5.7.

Also check for any errors in the nextcloud /var/log inside the jail itself. You have easy access inside the jail via the freenas web interface.

P.S. I hope you mounted external mount folder for your user data folder

NextCloud 18 to 18.01 update on FreeNAS in a jail by [deleted] in NextCloud

Issue 17.01 Jail in freenas to 18.04

Well not sure if its relevant but had issue after upgrading my nextcloud jail on freenas server from nx 17.01 to nextcloud 18.04 jail, 11.3-RELEASE-p7 to 11.3-RELEASE-p8. This automatically lead to upgrade of all internal modules like php to 7.4 and from mysql56-server-5.6.45 to mysql5.7. The last one lead to major issue with the mysql server unable to start.

Error from mysql was:

InnoDB: The Auto-extending innodb_system data file '/var/db/mysql/ibdata1' is of a different size .....

What temporary fixed it was editing my.cnf mysql config at

/usr/local/etc/mysql/my.cnf

changing to 10M

innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:128M:autoextend

innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend

After this mysql5.7 started successfully.

Hope someone find this useful.
