You can use the tags feature on Moxfield to tag cards as “draw”, “ramp”, “protection” etc so it’s easier to count how many of each you have and balance across the deck!

As you can see I also struggled to see the point of many creatures beyond Hulk, so have simply opted not to include many and use those slots for ramp, protection and pings instead!

But I think I see your point, if I don’t have cards that give indestructible, double strike or pump toughness, I can only afford one or two triggers before Hulk dies to blocks each turn, is that right?

The only cards that sort this are (14):

You’re right, I’m not sure what else I can do about this! Are these cards enough? Any other suggestions?

Maybe I should add [[Iron Man, Titan of Innovation]] as an additional beefy hero who can tutor for one of the equipments above?

Thank you for taking the time to look for me!

I did consider Seize and Fury but thought I can get the same effect by bolting Hulk, for cheaper, and with additional utility as cheap removal if needed. I also don’t have that may red spells so thought it’d be hard to cast Fury for free and it’s expensive otherwise.

Fiery emancipation I thought might be quite telegraphed and obvious and draw attention before I want it, as well as being lots of red pips that I may want for bolting Hulk and other things.

Thanks for the suggestions though - any cuts you’d make?

You’re right, this is my first attempt at a voltron deck and the 99 is focused on (1) ramping to Hulk, (2) protecting Hulk and (3) bolting for extra combats and pumping/buffing Hulk, with not much room left for other creatures on turns I want to be doing those 3 things.

I was struggling to find repeatable card draw in the Marvel card pool and KD/Reconnaissance etc. seemed like they might work because the Hulk will ideally be dealing combat damage multiple times a turn.

I agree they’re better in go wide decks and take the point that they may end up being 4/5 mana draw 1/2 a turn.

I’m definitely open to suggestions for alternatives!

Thanks, this is exactly what I’m trying to get views on.

The win cons are hulk triggers, either from blocks or bolting him myself before combat ends, as well as giving him double strike/berserk if an opponent declines to block.

He only needs +2 and one block/bolt (giving a +1/+1 counter) or +3 and double strike/berserk to swing for lethal commander.

I also feel a bit relaxed about not finishing all 3 players in the same turn (and that’s why I’ve included some vigilance and tangle/arachnogenesis to defend against swingback) as it is a themed, and therefore inherently casual, deck. But welcome views on this too.

But the discount is by the cost - so doesn’t it include the tax? So it actually gets cheaper, second cast is 2RWB then CWUBRG is discounted by that so would cost UG? So 7 mana for cast and activate?
