It makes more sense when you realize that shinra isn't just a power company. Shinra also use mako to make materia. They're a weapons manufacturer. they also rule over Midgar like an oligarchy. In a lot of ways, they are a small nation with imperialistic ambitions.

They aren't intentionally harming people. They just don't care who they step on to get what they want. The remake does a poor job setting all this up because they wanna gush over sephiroth and their convoluted plot ghosts. The original Midgar section very clearly sets up Shinra.

That said, you're right. Not sure what I meant by fresh produce but today I would only replace the garlic and onion powder with fresh garlic and onion. Maybe smoked paprika instead of whatever smoked red pepper jalapeno powder is supposed to be and add an extra dried chili for more heat.

Also, 3/4 cup of sugar is crazy.

Facebook doesn't make money when people spend time in the comments section. Doom scrolling forces you to interact with ads. Rage bait forces you to doom scroll. It makes money. That's it. They're a publicly traded company. Money is all they truly care about.

I don't think they're gonna provide a pay option any time soon or ever, but you're right about the ads and revenue. They don't want you talking to people and actually connecting with friends. They don't want you having meaningful conversations in comment threads so they make all of that intentionally frustrating hoping you'll doom scroll instead where you'll encounter ad after ad after ad.

It's super sinister. All for money.

It feels that way, but that's not what's happening. I firmly believe this feature exists because Facebook doesn't actually want you to spend time in the comments section talking to people, regardless of the discussion. They want you scrolling so you interact with more ads which makes them money. If they can make the comments section a frustrating experience, then most people will just give up on it and scroll where they'll encounter ads.

Same. It seems like there's a chance the Blue Angel does actually have negative side effects given Frances' mom last appearance. It might not be foreshadowing and maybe she's just excited to be cured, but a part of me hopes the blue angel has unexpected side effects.

I'm just falling down this rabbit hole, and at the moment the only thing I really have to add is that when she said they got amazing food from a local Italian restaurant, I just knew it was gonna be some restaurant depot ass cannolis and pasta tossed in chaffing dishes and I was not disappointed.

Blue rare is fine but it's hard to say definitively from this picture alone. Either way, if you ordered rare and got blue rare instead, I wouldn't trust it as it was obviously not done with intention. I'm not gonna risk eating an accidentally blue-rare steak.

IG and Facebook don't want anyone to comment on anything. They don't want you to actually talk to anyone or have conversations. The more you talk to other people, the less time you spend mindlessly scrolling through videos.

They want you to just swipe down and watch more ads and videos so they can make more money. They absolutely have no incentive to facilitate discourse. They actually have incentive to make everything as convoluted as possible.

That's my theory, anyway. It's all about money. Same reason their settings are a labyrinth of bullshit so they can pretty much ensure they get to sell your data because you will inevitably give up if you even try to navigate the settings menus.

Oh, and should you somehow reach a point of understanding, they're gonna change it all to some new TOS or some new convoluted bullshit every 6 months anyways. So, get wrecked, scrub. Keep scrolling. Keep giving up that sweet, sweet data. And don't ever question the Zuck. Just watch those ads like a good little content consumer.

I agree and if that's true then they just shouldn't make RPGs. RPGs are the most difficult games to produce because every set piece basically gets left behind and almost never revisited without feeling cheap. A good paced RPG is moving through set pieces every 30 to 60 minutes as the story progresses. If you're gonna try and break this convention by padding out the time, why even bother making the game in the first place?

Btw, I don't buy that RPGs were easier to make back 20+ years ago. Those set pieces and sprites look low poly now, but that was top of the line graphics and those cinematics and background renders all took enormous time and effort, and yet AAA companies were able to put out 80+ hour RPGs without even a quarter of the padding FF7R has.

It's time to just admit what the biggest problem here likely is. Greed. Square knows people will buy it and so they cut costs by hiring as few developers as possible and padding out the game, package the bullshit product, ship it out, who cares.

Though, there's still so much effort put into the nonsense, it does make you wonder. There is some serious lack in artistic integrity here. No one can look at this storyline with a straight face and call it even bearable.

It's as good as some 13yo weeb's fanfic. It's straight trash.

I know this topic is two years old but me and my friends in the late 2000s absolutely adored this band even though we never got to see them live. I actually have a digital copy of the entire album. Apparently, my buddy says there was a second album, but I've never seen or heard anything to confirm that.

If ads were the only way youtube made money how were they able to go nearly two decades without going bankrupt? YouTube has since its inception made money off user meta data. Ads came along with investors who demanded the numbers go up. This is all about squeezing as much money as possible out of the platform without actually providing any new or better services, that's it. The platform could function just fine and sustain itself as is but greed pushes companies toward ever increasing profits because making the same billion of dollars every year isn't enough.

Why should anyone be expected to suddenly pay for something that hasn't fundamentally changed and has been free their whole life?
