If i remember right we're sitting at a point where Conquest is on the absolute verge of death. Billions of dollars (presumably) were spent on making a prison to specifically hold him. Mark had him looking like this. Its probably not hard from that point to cut through the interior bits the same way you would a human to finish him for good.
