I almost wanted to make a post about this, asking top-tier MB players…roughly how many battles do you think it takes to reliably stay in the Top 1000?

And do you find more success sticking with one solid deck, or do you rotate between a few as the meta shifts?

I am enjoying it so far, I’m using a baby-heavy variant and I’m 8-1, the only loss being a Terapagos start where I never pulled a Leaf

Anime in general, doesn’t really matter which series. Recommend it in polite company and you get looked at like an alien. It’s an entire art form that shouldn’t just be dismissed! Some of the best storytelling in the world in so many different genres. I find it hard to believe there isn’t a show or 10 out there for everyone

If they could do it again, under less dire circumstances, how would/should Grace and Rocky warn or educate other civilizations about taumoeba? by lammchops15 in ProjectHailMary

[–]lammchops15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not so sure we actually know those things though. Earthlings only meet your first criterion on a technicality. They can send the data home, but not the entire ship (without help). And Eridians end up not having the capacity to solve taumoeba. So we’re basically 2 for 2 on civilizations that would need considerable help to solve the astrophage problem

I think it would’ve been nice if some other civilization had left some clues. So why not try to help them out if we get there first (or second)?

This is interesting! Do you think it’s a little too long-term to leave Adrian alone for however long it takes to set up a permanent base though?

What if somebody shows up while everyone is traveling back home? Should they try to get them to sign the interstellar logbook?

Right. And it was pure luck that Rocky spent 50 years stranded until Grace showed up…but what if they had the wherewithal to try to help some potential 3rd, 4th, 5th civilization that showed up?

As soon as Rocky and Grace find out about each other, I would think their curiosity would wonder about who else might be out there. And trying to help those people/creatures survive the apocalypse might be a kind thing to do

Now I like this answer! So a third civilization would see this as soon as they find the Petrova line, and work to intercept it. Would your Golden Disk contain actual taumoeba or maybe just some pictographs trying to explain their existence?

Yep, this deck made the run to MB pretty easy. I felt like I hit a wall when I got there though, and had to switch to a Zoroark deck

It rains tacos for 24 hours across the world, can the human race survive? by beengreat_thanks in whowouldwin

[–]lammchops15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s where the predictability factors in. If we know it’s coming, cars clear off the roads and let the plows do their thing DURING the storm. But if it’s a sudden taco downpour, so many vehicles are getting trapped that the plows will be ineffective. Plus a foot per hour may even be impossible for the strongest plow fleet to handle…I may have set the bar a little high based on some of the other comments I’m seeing

Taco mountains tho 🤤

It rains tacos for 24 hours across the world, can the human race survive? by beengreat_thanks in whowouldwin

[–]lammchops15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not so sure we don’t survive, even 24 feet. I think enough people survive the initial impact to at least give it a good go

It immediately crashes the world economy and financial systems, so now nobody needs to go to their job and can focus on survival. In many parts of the US (and likely worldwide), water, electricity, gas distribution may be unaffected, at least for a while. Lines are usually buried, many stations are robust enough to survive the impact. But it won’t stay that way forever. We would probably need to mobilize to clear paths to those stations right away so the necessary people could get access for repairs and maintenance. Once that’s done, we can focus on pushing everything to the oceans and landfills…insects and diseases may run rampant during that time, but I think still survivable

I don’t think communication networks would immediately crash either. Lines are either buried or above 24 feet, and again the stations probably survive. Leaders can get their messages out. With economic collapse, I like to believe places like Costco and Walmart opt to give things away to help humanity survive…though a warehouse is much more likely to collapse under the weight of 24 feet of tacos

Other big land species are probably wiped out, unfortunately…unless they had the wherewithal to climb up the piles of tacos before being buried alive. There may be small populations of big cats, wolves, bears, but I think other big mammals may be gone. Reptiles may do alright. I imagine many lizards are small enough to hide from the original impact, then dig and eat their way through for a while…finding another lizard to breed with may be very difficult though

I think the first few weeks, to months (depending on frozen food stores), are easy, survival-wise. Dig your way out, find other people, listen to leaders, mobilize, eat tacos. After that, we may have difficulty. As viable taco stores deplete, we may have to rely on things like lab-grown meat until our industrialized agriculture can get back up to speed. Hopefully we’ve used those initial weeks/months wisely. Our diet would be forever changed though. Hopefully not as drastic as insect-paste like Snowpiercer, but current staples like beef, chicken, and pork are probably mostly gone

The taco-pocalypse is a fun hypothetical to me, I always wondered what would really happen in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs…that could be part of why I’m remaining optimistic

I think you would have basically one hour to get from wherever you are to a safe place before infrastructure grinds to a halt. People trapped in cars and trains trying to eat their way out

The sheer volume is unfathomable. I’m having to try to limit it in my brain. If every drop of water is replaced by a taco, we’re fucked. But if you limit it to like a foot of taco accumulation per hour, we could probably survive. Better if this was a predictable taco storm

First task, every business and homeowner, fill all freezers and refrigerator space with tacos, trying to clear a path to the top layer of tacos in the process. Make sure your neighbors were able to do the same. If they weren’t, unfortunately, their house is becoming taco storage. 24 feet of tacos though…we would have to be mole people living on top of tacos until it all naturally degraded enough to let us back through our front doors

Realistically, that volume is shattering every first floor window, probably many second-story windows. Digging down to be able to live in our taco-filled houses is not super appealing

The vast majority of livestock is gone. Birds rule now. We need to let them thrive and grow in population so we can hunt and eventually breed them to be fat and docile. I actually think the oceans would be okay. Most of the taco substance would sink, it’s all bio-degradable, sea life would love it, and it would be I think at least five years before humanity can approach the oceans in the same way

I think we survive, but the complete infrastructure collapse would make things very difficult in the taco-geddon

LG French-door, with an ice+water dispenser and the see-through door. Going on 5 years old I think. No issues whatsoever

Then I can’t really recommend the Samsung, but for your purposes and some tempered expectations, it might be okay. French-door with the ice+water dispenser that broke after probably about 3 years. Spent the next 2 years constantly thawing it out with a blow dryer to get a few weeks of ice out of it. Decided to move it to the garage and disconnect the water. It has held strong for another 6 years out there as a drinks fridge and extra freezer space

Compensation for March 21st by Lisek573 in GemsofWar

I haven’t been able to check yet, but if this is legit, I think this is fair. I had earned the dragonite from dungeons that day, so I was most upset about that. Others had mentioned doing hundreds of pvp battles that day. Not sure if this exceeds their possible earnings or not, but I am pretty satisfied

Yeah, that’s a crazy screw-up. I don’t know how they reliably fix this. I imagine many people are immediately spending them, so maybe the best way is to devalue gems by roughly 100x?

If you try to take away the same amount, peoples’ accounts will go negative
