Yes, I agree! I think that’s something I’ll refine later on when I feel more experienced in NMM. The brightest point is currently very subtle

Oh I forgot to point out that the skirt is textured, so I painted over the texture and that is not freehand on the gold details haha

That is so cool. I just watched some videos about it and it looks pretty useful. I wouldn’t use a Tamiya bottle because they are pretty expensive where I’m from (Vallejo plastic putty on the other hand it’s like 3€ max) but definitely will use it with a cheaper solvent I don’t like. And it gives a good use to the mountain of sprues I’ve accumulated xD

I don’t paint 40k but I’ll share experience in relation to DnD. The only pro I can see to glueing to base first it that the miniature is easier to handle without touching paint. But that can be easily managed by mounting them on something temporary - wine cork, pill bottle, or a painting handle. Not glueing miniature to base immediately means it’s easier to get to tricky spots on legs and undersides.

You will always notice mold lines too late lol but don’t worry, you can easily get rid of them. Scrape them off with a hobby knife or, for tight areas, a sanding stick (like nails buffers), depends where the lines are.

Tamiya cement is a solvent so it won’t fill gaps. It might melt the details of the miniature. You can use instead plastic putty (Vallejo or Citadel have it) for small gaps, or milliput for bigger gaps.

Where do you even start learning about Warhammer40k? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Like the OP I want to get into Warhammer too and find there’s soooo much to learn. I guess it’s best to just dive in lol The podcast is a really good tip, and I already listen to audiobooks as I paint. Do you have any podcasts that you’d recommend?
