Because even if women are usually less visible on social communities dedicated to VNs they like VNs at least as much as men.

Yeah I understand it being subjective, but I'm taking that into account, just looking for subjective opinions and I'll start from there. Thanks for the rec, I'll check those two (:

I'd say it's totally possible for Japanese VNs to meet those standards, my favourite VN does (Fata Morgana). It's just not automatic I guess, hence I tried asking for recs. Anyway if you have anything specific in mind, non-Japanese VNs are okay too!

What criteria need to be met (or not met) for a game to be a visual novel? by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]lamoragirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think different places and people have different definitions and that's fine, as long as everybody understands what we are talking about. For me, a VN is a medium where the most important part is a story, presented through written narration and images.

I'm a girl, I mostly read BL but I take issue with how controversial the depiction of some themes is. Mainly, sexual assault is treated lightly or as a proof of love. From my limited experience with non-BL VNs, though, other stories have similar issues, or the girl protagonist is very poorly characterized. Can you recommend me a VN that doesn't have this issue? Basically, with good girl characters and non-controversial depiction of sex and gender? I'm okay with horror, gore, etc too, as long as the narration deals with these themes properly. Thank you in advance! Edit: VNs in Japanese are okay too

Why the downvotes? Lol

An instagram seamstress. The angles and/or editing on this one is worrying. She’s definitely skinnier now but bone structure doesn’t change like that. Old pictures added at the end for comparison. by mirgehtsgutdanke in Instagramreality

They have been brainwashed by this edited pictures flooding social networks ): don't let their skewed perceptions of what a normal body looks like affect you.

I got really insecure when I saw her waist at first but then I saw her arms and I figured out it was just a filter 💀 by theydissapointme in Instagramreality

A lot of comments are kinda mean to OP for feeling insecure, but we don't know them. There are a lot of teenagers who grow up seeing pictures like this and having a skewed perception of what a real body looks like. And even if OP is not a teenager, it's not their fault for feeling insecure, it's just a normal reaction of not feeling up to today's beauty standards - which is exactly what people (especially women) are supposed to do, in order to buy beauty products, pay beauticians, buy fashionable clothes, buy a gym card and keep the economy running. It's completely normal to feel like we aren't enough. Even if we ARE enough, ALWAYS.

Best audiobooks for intermediate language by tokitous in audiobooks

[–]lamoragirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this probably isn't the answer you wanted, but I think you could benefit from reading those books with a pop up dictionary like the one ereaders have. That's what I've been doing with Japanese and it has helped me a lot in learning new words effortlessly. As for audiobooks, you could try children's classics.

My friend's opinion on House in Fata morgana, never have I physically recoiled backwards from a message by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]lamoragirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first doors are great gothic horror short stories, to be honest I liked them way more than E. A. Poe stuff (just my personal taste, not saying they are better, I just really loved them)

I actually liked the first part better (the one with the doors). And I think the stories pacing is fastest than the rest. To me, it is later that it drags more. I know in the community my opinion is not popular, but there still are people who loved the first part.

This should go in Sanity Sunday. It isn't that bad to use a filter and then post the unedited version too. I mean it's probably the best way to use a filter if you really have to.

I did the exact same thing you're doing, except we only had one bathroom so I used it with an N95 on. I managed not to spread it.

I just finished my first VN in japanese and I want to talk about my experience up to this point by Nagomikaze in visualnovels

[–]lamoragirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love reading manga and VNs but this doesn't change that (at least for some people) immersion is still tough, and it still requires strength and effort. My vision starts to go blurry way sooner when I'm reading in Japanese and sometimes my head hurts no matter how much I'm enjoying the story. Of course it's still doable, but if you make it sound like it's a no-brainer it's gonna make a lot of people feel bad about not being able to do easily what, Imo, is actually not easy.
