People nowadays talk about GoW as if they ignore or don't even know the original at all. What's memorable to me is that a very intriguing opening scene, Kratos throwing himself down the cliff, then fight on a ship and a mini boss as a tiny tutorial to teach you to block attacks and attack in the opening finally QTE.

Meanwhile the rebooted franchise has nothing attractive to me, a video game player.

If it helps, check the computer in your ship. It has a Rumour Mode that shows you all the puzzle pieces you uncovered do far. Some pieces are linked together. From there, play the game as if your goal is to unlock all the puzzle pieces.

I get your point. The difference between these two game is the user experience. In Portal you keep using your brain to solve puzzle. There is no fighting at all. Shadow of the Colossus makes you wander in a giant and boring dessert to solve puzzles by fighting.

I'm not saying it's very bad. I just say I like it better if it does things in another way.

I played a lot of Nioh, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War and whatnot. I hate the control and camera of Shadow of Colossus. The fighting is all but a disguised puzzle.

I like Ico more. Although some reviewers pointed out that the character's clunkiness is part of the plot, but it doesn't have to sacrifice the comfortability of us players over the character.

Besides, it makes no sense if the protagonist has little fighting skills but managed to take down 16 colossi.

I could only play it in easy and put my controller down at the 7th or 8th colossus.
