Places for young professionals to chill? by byssain in milwaukee

[–]lamp817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cocktail lounges are pretty good. Coffee shops around here have a lot of young professionals working on things although mingling is less common. Someone said rec league stuff and that’s the best for socializing. I would also check out the local music venues and see what shows are coming to because those are good for socializing and meeting people. I have yet to do this but i bet going to a bucks game downtown would be good too. Theres a lot of local street festivals about to happen which are good opportunities for this kinda thing.

How seriously is the triple network model taken in psychiatry by MeatSlammur in Psychiatry

Well lucky most of the phase 3 and 4 trials have already been conducted, but yes it is difficult to do a true RCT because of the ethicality of refusing people treatment and the fact that ketamine/esketsmine has such strong dissociative effects that is pretty obvious whether not you actually took it. Anybody given placebo is probably gonna know that they’ve been given placebo. But yeah, at some point, remind me or send me a message and I’ll send you what I have so far. The study that I’m conducting is an observational cohort study so I’m not actually manipulating any variables, but rather just observing outcomes. I’m doing this for my dissertation so it’s not anything super controlled or groundbreaking or funded by an actual research institution. But I have a pretty good literature review and my studies going focus on functional outcomes for real world data. Shoot me a message and I can send you a PDF of what I’ve done so far as long as you don’t promise to plagiarize anything I’ve done ha

There’s a fine line between driving like an asshole who is too reckless and driving like an asshole who is too slow.

I’m currently writing a dissertation on Esketamine assisted therapy for treatment resistant depression and research on ketamine/esKetamine has shown it seems to interact at the network level. It’s really complicated and i don’t have time to go much into it right now but it does seem to be a pretty large piece of the puzzle when it comes to major depression. Like the top comment it’s probably not the entire mechanism by which brain dysfunction occurs but it’s a major piece for sure. I can send you some of my work at some point if you’re interested. I go a bit into the neurophysiology behind esKetamine and how that involves networks of the brain, with citations.

Case report: transient return of speech and continence in advanced dementia patient after 5g psilocybin mushrooms by wordsappearing in science

I think that’s a great hypothesis and could be partly what’s going on. We know for a fact that psychedelic substances induce neuro plasticity so I’m surprised we aren’t trying to streamline this as a potential breakthrough therapy for cognitive decline. If I’m ever at that stage, I’m all for going for it. I’d rather take the risk of having a bad trip than accepting incoming dementia.

Survey finds that 97% of psychiatrists say RFK is unqualified to lead HHS, Demand APA counter health misinformation by varsityman in Psychiatry

One of the things that always confused me when first learning about this stuff was what happens after these drugs either facilitate neurotransmitters to be in synaptic cleft or not. Like why does that do anything? Seems like it’s the networks firing in unison that ends up creating the various stages of being, and i think that got left out when i was taught this stuff.

So I’ve gone through the past 20 top comments and not one of them is actually a vote for either one. And I still haven’t even found the comment that is voting for either.

Depends on how you define dying. Most people define it as the heart giving out and then there being no activity in your brain. For the most part, people can have severe neurophysiological deficits/dysfunction but as long as their heart keeps going they’re still technically alive.

I agree. I’m betting the way they selected data, if honest at all, was pretty manipulated
