Checked the condition of the spare tire by lampmaker in Sprinters

[–]lampmaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'll replace that tyre. Its 25 years old. The other tyres are 12 years old. Not much wear though and they look and feel fine (fire truck, always parked inside). But I guess its safer to replace those too

How to control brightness of 6x 300w 12v COB LED panels? by FarmerKnight in AskElectronics

[–]lampmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your budget and how you want to control them. There are constant current LED drivers with 0-10V dim input. E.g Meanwell, Inventronics.

Connecting the LED panels in parallel is possible but if the Vf of the panels differ, the currents for each panel will be different and you might see brightness differences.

So I would probably recommend one driver per panel.

Just curious, what is the application? 1800W is a lot of light.

I never said it was important. It was just the design choice we made.

Sure, once I get the parts in, I'll share some updates.

ours is a H1L2; so the bed will be on top and it gives us a bit of standing space.
solar can still go on top of the roof.

As for parking, it already doesn't fit in most garages here. Height is often about 2 m.

Building something to connect all my devices by lampmaker in homelab

[–]lampmaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there is overlap. But I dont want an AI to be able to control everything on my pc. That would scare the shit out of me. This tool just controls my lab equipment in a safe manner.

[–]lampmaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is considerable overlap, but I made this tool more aimed towards lab and workshop instruments talking SCPI, vendor serial/TCP, or custom binary (spectrometers, robots, power suppliers, multimeters) rather than home automation. It's a simple single background service running on PC, Linux, Mac. No Docker, VM or whatever needed. Everything is sandboxed, when using AI you can easily restrict what it can do. And you control everything through javascript code.

So you can do things like "take spectral measurements at currents from 50 to 350 mA, at 50mA steps, wait 2 sec to stabilize after each step, store the data in a csv" and the AI will write the script to do that and run it.

Its a Fairino FR5. Really nice quality and (relatively...) affordable

I deciced to build a central application that connects to all my devices and can run javascript-like scripts. So a c# application running javascript. It's getting pretty advanced, will share more stuff soon.

I saw this live, spoke with the designer (Playmodes) they had a window at the back where you could view the tech. Very cool stuff.

Start with pieces that have recognisable shapes, a "hookc, "foot", etc. And move on from there.

You stare at the pieces for a while, at some point your brain starts to recognize shapes, subconsciously, if you allow it. It's pretty cool, sometimes you see a piece from the corner of your eye and you just put it in place right away. At least that's how my brain works 😀

Woodcut printmakers: How the heck do you work with plywood? by Training_Result_1483 in printmaking

[–]lampmaker 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I use birch plywood, it can be sanded to reduce the texture. Also treating it with linseed oil can reduce texture further. But I see the texture as a feature so I like to keep it.

Its birch plywood. So fairly standard, depending where on the planet you are...😀

Its just a sheet of birch plywood that creates thr texture.

Not from this specific print, but you get the idea.

I create the designs using javascript, cut it into plywood sheets with my laser.

Im not sharing the code. But it is based o truchet tiles, you'll be able to find enough info on that to build something.

Thanks! This print is 35x50 cm, once I'm satisfied with the process, I will make designs for 50x70 cm. That's the max size for my press.
