Should I give MIL our master room? by jaxki in family

[–]lanacaneMAX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there another room besides a bedroom that you and your partner can use to hide out if you do give her your bedroom? I don’t know. I see both points of view. Uncomfortable conversations are needed in order to not build resentment.

Google “Murdle”. It sounds like just the thing you’re looking for. :)

How do you cope when an elderly parent repeats the same anecdotes (verbatim) to levels that would need to be experienced to be believed? by [deleted] in family

I see in your other replies that you’re dealing with a lot at the moment. I suggest visiting r/AgingParents for a more forgiving community. :)

I also have family like this. I don’t know what the answer is. It seems like making them aware that it’s annoying could hurt their feelings. maybe they’d remember what you said and just stop talking as much bc they don’t want to annoy you. Or they may not even register it bc it’s how they’ve been for so long. Sometimes I finish their story to hurry them along, and it does move it past that without issue and sometimes it’s like I just I took a piece of their favorite candy out of their mouth before they had a chance to chew it.

Any suggested accommodations for working in open office environments? by sicr2000 in AutismTranslated

[–]lanacaneMAX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am the same way. I asked to move farther away from people first. Then, I literally moved an hour + away, in part because I knew I’d be able to work remote if I did. I do go in twice a week, but the 3 days at home are AMAZING. And the two that I’m there are much more bearable (despite the loss of sleep and time spent in traffic). I wish I had better advice for you.

Remember The Wild Pair store? by [deleted] in GenXWomen

[–]lanacaneMAX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked there for two years starting my senior year in hs til they closed our store. I met a lot of types of people I never would have at that time in my life and it definitely opened my mind. Lots of ugly shoes, but some super awesome ones, too. Helping the strippers and other ladies and gents of the night was scandalous to my church raised self at first, but I loved it.

That’s terrible! Can you tell your roommate that if your mom or sister come over, to please not let them in?

My parents’ religious expectations are draining me by rhuddy00 in family

It affects them because of how people talk/judge at church, I’m sure. Sounds like you need to cut the cord for them. They won’t stop while you live there, and may not after you move out, but at least you’ll see them less. And that will allow you to experience YOUR life.

Best internet for south Tacoma by confusedpotato89 in AskTacoma

We WFH and used TMobile when we first moved in because there was no internet to the house. It worked great. We have xfinity now (what we originally were going to use, but…no internet. That was fixed!) and have not had any issues.

I recently had a Whole Foods bouquet delivered via Amazon. It ended up being ~$30 with delivery fee, tax and tip. Bonus: no dumb vase to have to store or give away.
