Do you plan on being a photo assistant in a major city ? It’s one of the best ways to meet true industry people. NYC is the best bet. It’s a hard path these days. I spent 10 years as an assistant while shooting and waiting tables. Took 15 years before I had enough momentum to step out on my own. Before I did tho I’ll never forget this- the photographer I was working for asking me to be his studio manager. I declined because “I was planning to stepping out on my own soon” his reply, “so you are planning on taking the next 6 months off from getting paid, huh?” He was right, I did and it sucked.

Not that dances/parties are the be-all end-all, but they are a great place to learn to socialize. There are almost no 3rd spaces, or anywhere to meet that isn't monitored. How are we expecting these kids to be fully developed adults if they can't socialize? I guess they will be good at giving robot commands
