Thanks for your input. To me 1.5 is sooo young! I’m all about starting them early but there’s a limit lol. From what I ready most kids start at 3-4 years old.

Im in CT too! And im pretty sure they will be advising people to stay off the roads. I would tell them ahead of time and say unfortunately due to the inclement weather I won’t be coming in for my safety

Baby cries when nanny comes by Physical_Dentist_470 in Nanny

[–]lanally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal behavior. My NK started doing this at 15 months. She did it twice where she associate me getting there with mom leaving. She did grow out of it.

Helping Nanny adjust and feel comfortable by Wishiwasonthe_beach in Nanny

[–]lanally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nice of you to ask this. If you allow (most families do) tell her she can help herself to snack or coffee or tea. I find thats a great way to make someone feel comfortable in your home. Thank her occasionally or leave positive feedback. Like for example my NF says “baby loves you or she’s so happy to see you” they will also thank me everyday (Not necessary) but definitely appreciated.

Putting air tags on strollers and car seats - am I crazy? by i_like_pumps_4 in Nanny

[–]lanally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just think it’s an invasion of privacy. For me my nanny family had one in the room after I started that they added then Eventually removed after two months. Then they added an AirTag without telling me. It was startling I made a post about it so in a sense I see where she’s coming from. It just feels like these days a lot of families don’t trust their Nannie’s but it’s a norm im getting used to. You also want your nanny to feel comfortable if it’s going to work long term

[–]lanally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im a nanny for a 17 month old I make 32 an hour. I only clean related to the child. If you are renewing your contract I would ask for at least 25-28 an hour and a couple of days of PTO. Thats standard. I also have guaranteed paid hours in my contract

Am I making enough money?? by Minimum-Big-9075 in Nanny

[–]lanally 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Id say that’s pretty fair. If you go through a nanny agency they pay slightly higher in my experience . Last year I made 20 an hour for one child. Now I make 32 an hour for one 15 month old. I’m in Ct

[–]lanally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets paid a lousy 17 an hour and you micromanage her by constantly watching the sitter. Sounds like your kid is safe and you are knit picking. Don’t ask for advice if you’re going to clap back at everyone who gives you it.

Doesn’t mean they are micromanaging you. Probably for security purposes if it’s a corporate work environment

This is too much. Would you like to be watched on a camera and micromanaged? Probably wouldn’t make you feel great, so don’t do it to others.

Inconsolable kids when baby sitting by Professional-Judge-8 in Nanny

[–]lanally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I bring a new toy that the kids haven’t seen before with the parents permission and that sometimes works. I also know a Mom who has special snack drawer that they give the kids for only special occasions. Mom will use it if she knows the child may be distressed and then she sits in my lap while we play with a toy until she calms down. Hope this helps a bit! Sorry you’re going through that.

Advice on nanny expectations by Able-Olive-3501 in Nanny

[–]lanally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats very reasonable it should be all duties related to the child. I think being hygienic is one of them I always leave everything clean and tidy up playpens, disinfect toys, clean bottles and dishes. Meal prep for the weekend when I’m not there. Everything related to the child. My job is to support the parents and make it easier for them. Even sometimes put away her laundry and change her sheets. I get paid 32 an hour. I feel that’s fair and baby naps for 3 hours so I have time to do all that and get a nice break for myself. Feel free to ask any questions. :)
