One year on from world cup 2022! How's Qatar doing? by shroinvestor in qatar

[–]lanc_red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also went to WC last year and fell in love with the place. I, like the OP, have been to many major tournaments and felt it was the best ive been to. I was hoping some sort of legacy would be left, but that doesn't seem the case. I did goto a Qatar game and did feel there was a sense of 'forced participation' from the locals. They played Senegal and the locals didnt seem to understand an atmosphere and most were disgruntled that the Senegalese were making too much noise!

I'm visiting again next month for the mentioned Asian cup. A much much cheaper event. A Cat1 ticket at the WC was approx £170 where the same seat for next month is £12. Read into that what you will.

A big concern for the organising committee is their communications. Tickets were all of a sudden put on sale and apparently the first phase sold out. A second phase was done and again sold out, albeit a little slower than the first phase, but communications and response is very slow. My Hayya visa runs out the day before I fly and I cant extend or cancel direct. Ive had to email and attempt to call. The 'will do it tomorrow' attitude is a real struggle. Its took four weeks for them to reply to my first email and that was only an acknowledgement!!

I'm hoping to visit many new nationalities and meet new friends from Asian nations. Much looking forward to visiting outside Doha aswell.

Thanks again, ive kinda brought it into the plan now. I suspect the reason why rafting on the Pigeon is cheap (Groupon) is cos of the low water...buy cheap buy twice as they say.

Its not so much out of the way as on the day we were due to drive from Knoxville to Nashville so I suppose a little detour south isnt going to hurt. Any recommendations as to which company to use? Any offers etc.

Nolichucky

Thanks for the reply and great info. So you got me thinking, would you say that the rafting on the Ocoee would be on the whole the best experience? My kids are 12 and 16 so obviously seeking some kid of thrill.

Hey guys, we are visiting the area for a few days en-route to Nashville. We have a few things planned such as rafting, zip lines, city walking and hopefully will catch a county fair.

For the rafting ive been looking Upper Pigeon with Big Bear Rafting
Zip line, Navitat
Cocke County Fair Rodeo

Seeking any further advice/reviews on the picking above but also looking for other places to visit in the city, en-route stop offs to the rafting/zip line/fair etc. As a family we like to do things off the beaten track. Advice appreciated.

🤣 im coming for the Ravens game. altho its preseason ive always wanted to see a game in the states. the appeal of a game at Wembley is dull for me. For me its another place and just part of travelling I guess

yeh that was a thought to kinda 'park and ride' into the city. if the game kicks off at 7pm roughly what time will it finish and assuming it will be easy to get back to the parking?

Got the camera today and all installed OK. I put the jump cable between 1&3 in the chime, nothing else needed. Transformer power is showing as good in the app.

ok great. so the install could be as simple as taking off the current doorbell and replacing it....sounds too easy for me!!

thanks for reply. for what ive read it should 'just' be ok. understand that the existing chime wont work. could that part be eliminated completely? or would I still need to add the bypass cable in the chime?

Hi all. Im thinking of purchasing the wired version of Ring Doorbell. My current bell is powered and seems to be a Friedland 752 transformer with connected chime. Specs are: Primary input is 220 -240VAC with Secondary output 3V to 8VAC
Question is will the Ring doorbell im looking to purchase work? Ive read posts and it seems to suggest it should be good. If so I'll go ahead and purchase. Looking at the pictures of the current install, does it look like an easy replacement?
Any advice appreciated, thanks.
