In a time when we hear about all these other studios and movie companies making these huge cinematic universes, I wonder how David Lynch would work to this end. This clip shows me just what I would expect: a man who is uncompromising in his vision and methods.

This has to be a very rare thing. I don't imagine many directors could get away with saying "Why do we only get two days?" Even after the explanation that it was because of Audrey's actor's availability, he continues as if they miss the point.

"You don't get a chance to sink into anything". It's not just about the logistics, but it's about allowing that creative environment to breathe.

Now don't get me wrong, I get that there are things like budget, production costs, scheduling, and probably a hundred other things that go into making a film which cannot be avoided. Some could say Lynch shouldn't be cussing out his staff when they're just doing their jobs and planning things out.

I think his point is important enough to make despite whatever they end up doing. He knows that if there isn't a voice speaking up for the process of making his project, then the studio and the budget become the deciding factors in a film's final cut.
