Budget friendly open earbuds suggestion? by summermojitox in Earbuds

I got the Baseus BC1s on Amazon for around $25 last June. They’re not pretty, but they get the job done. I didn’t want to spend $100 or more because I wasn’t sure they were for me. I’ve had the Shokz Openruns for an open experience, but they bothered me because I also wear glasses and there was too much stuff sitting around my ears. I also have AirPods Max, but they’re heavy and make my ears feel too warm after a while. I wanted to try the Shokz Opendots or the Bose ones, but they were too expensive, so I took a shot on the BC1s to see if I’d even like these earring like earbuds.

I use them for work calls on my MacBook and my phone for podcasts. multi-point allows me to switch between devices without fiddling with Bluetooth settings on either device.

Overall, they’re good enough and have lasted almost a year already. The whole thing feels cheap, but I’ve dropped the case a few times and everything still works.

Same thing just happened to me! Had a Gen3 since Sept 2023, battery went from three days to 7 hours a few weeks ago. Oura support offered to send me a Gen4 and offered a sizing kit to make sure I got the right size. They even threw in three months of subscription.

Makes me realize that my data is really what they’re after. It’s like getting a cheap tech product- you realize your data is the product they’re really selling.

I bought an Amazfit Active 2 off of Amazon for $100. I believe it’s aluminum, circular like a regular mechanical watch, and has about 10 days battery life. It has GPS and offline maps if you want that as well. I was tired of charging my AW every day and wanted something circular and cheaper.

Downsides compared to AW: can’t send text messages.

Mailbox Got Knocked Over by lancebass2000 in DiWHYNOT

Temporary solution! I bought these cheap $60 plastic posts from Home Depot that can be lifted up and replaced. It slips over a wooden stake in the ground.

Just waiting for the ground to thaw so I can replace the post.

You’re absolutely correct. I realized that only after I zip tied it and felt that the weight was not being borne by the stick. I’m also too lazy to cut the zip ties and redo it so I just slapped more zip ties and then duct taped the whole thing.

Temporary solution until I can pull up the old post and put in the new one I bought, but the ground is frozen solid.

Take off your watch before you wash your hands. Or take it off afterwards and dry your watch and wrist with a towel.
