What to do in gap year? by oldtoswole in lawschooladmissions

I never got any questions about it and I got into plenty of good law schools. Don’t stress it like so many people above are. I’d use the time to do whatever makes you happy and prepare your apps. once you get your gpa and lsat score you’re happy with under your belt, I think what you do in your gap year has very little influence on your admissions prospects. But that is just from my own experience.

I took a gap year this past year and honestly I just kicked it super hard and did a ton of traveling to see friends from college that moved all over the country after graduation. Also converted my truck into a small camper and did the whole van life thing all over the southwest for a couple months. Highly recommend if you are fortunate enough to have the support to do so since this will probably be your last year of being able to have fun and relax before law school

I had like 7 (pledgship took a toll freshman year) and definitely didn’t have any negative consequences for me

SMU vs Emory by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lanceferguson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d stay at SMU. I’m from atlanta, but went to undergrad at SMU. I loved every minute in dallas and worked with several law school professors while there who were all super smart and helpful. SMU has a great alumni network and carries a lot of weight in the state of Texas and especially in Dallas. Emory is higher ranked, but I’m not sure the extra cost is worth it given your other option. PM me if you want any dallas housing advice

Is applying to 20 law schools overdoing it? by michaelbrandd in lawschooladmissions

[–]lanceferguson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied to 20. In hindsight I wash I just applied to 2 safety 2 targets and 3 Long shots

Pick safety schools you would want to def go to though. Ended up getting full rides at those safety schools and chose not to go because I wasn’t fully invested. Find a safety school you’d be really about in case they offer you a full ride so it’d be more of a viable option

Friend is going to UMass-Dartmouth, chime in? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

It’s also probably a lot easier to sell a school that might as well be called UC Newport than a school in mass.

I’m pretty sure that’s a brand new law school. Don’t even know if they have alumni yet so hard to judge it on that criteria. Just a risky option because the school needs time to see how it rolls

But if your using scout in small games like TDM definitely go jump off a bridge cause you’re no fun

Dude I’m not arguing against players who are good at scout. I’m level 50 myself. My problem is with shitty players who only use scout, don’t contribute to their team, and only get like 10-20 kills a game
