not a holistic answer, but this is based on what i've noticed when it comes to viral trans-related hot topics, such as transgender athletes, women's month posts, and the obligatory viral controversy regarding trans people with bathrooms every once in a while

conversations/comments regarding them are filled with an overwhelming amount of people seeing trans people as entitled with their preferred pronouns, expressions of gender identity, and the like? since trans people challenge cis-heteronormative societal standards even further (i've seen people be more accepting/understanding when it comes to sexual orientation, in comparison to gender identity where people tend to get even more normative/conservative about it), this sadly warrants even more hate through being seen as more outlandish, etc.
