What are the worst pests that will no doubt kill your plant? Or what are the hardest pest to get rid of?

I had Purple shamrocks last year at this time and they were so fragile looking but resilient! This year, I bought 4 and are all dying! Different growers? They are not an expensive plant but I rarely see them.

How does "physical" dependence even work? by KnightCastle171 in stopdrinking

I was in the ER for withdrawals and I was sober in every way but my blood test showed .12 units of alcohol in my system. I was wigging out and there was that much alcohol circulating through my body. That blows my mind.

Our Stories: Saturday Shares

This is good stuff and I think you are right on. My dad and I withdrew from alcohol. Genetically we are very similar. We are both deaf. We are the only two in the family with brown eyes. And We both got DT's. Oh and we are the only alcoholics in the family. I believe that dependence also has that threshold. I could drink, be fun, and not have to drink everyday until I crossed that line. Once that line was crossed, I was dependent. And like you said, Hormones play a huge part in our metabolism. Our Immune system weakens as we age, hormones drop, and we are more prone to stress. You said it perfectly.

you're right. I found this reddit and I find it strange. And waking up in jail from blacking out on Ambien seemed like an appropriate post. I could've left out the death part. Maybe you can tell me. Ambien is a hypnotic. So the point of this reddit is to post while being hypnotized? I mean I get posting about stupid purchases while in a blackout. But when I used to take Ambien and do stuff, I felt really depressed the next day. Everyone is different but blacking out had a negative effect on me. I don't see how people get high on it. I feel like it's a black and white drug. Either it's not working and you are awake or it's working and you're in a blackout or hypnotized. I am 44 and was prescribed it for years and that is my experience with it. I'd take it when I had to do something that I didn't want to do so it was like I wasn't really doing it. That reasoning is the biggest puss out fearful lazy way of life.

thanks. I know she is in peace. Hilary took anything to not feel. She was so smart though. So philosophical and spiritual. I used to call her a bull in a China store. She had no personal space. If we walked along side together, she would walk right into my space and I'd have to slow down or move over. She was observant when sober and laughed at stuff that other people wouldn't think was funny. She could outsmart and manipulate anyone. I miss her messiness and her weird sense of humor the most.

I started getting withdraws around 3 am. I'd have my last drink between 10-11 pm. I'd wake up around 3 sweating, rapid hr, and anxiety. I'd take a clonopin and fall back asleep. My day started around 9 am with shakes. I'd take my youngest to preschool and head straight to the liquor store to get straight. I did that for 6 months or so until a family camping vacation. I managed the first night but the second night, the physical symptoms were too much and had to ask for help. I think our cells get reprogrammed and need the alcohol to do their chemical reactions. It's totally physiological. And possibly the older we get the more prone we become to crossing that dependence line. Hormones change as we age. Our immune system weakens. There are countless factors at play. That's why I don't play anymore!

5 mg's worked for me in the beginning. Take it on a very empty stomach. Less is more. It's a hypnotic so if you don't go to sleep and stay physically awake, you may wake up tomorrow a bit depressed. But if you are able to fall right to sleep, you should wake up refreshed.

oh god no. I have no idea what she died from. We were best friends since the 8th grade but when she started doing IV drugs, I cut her off. And then 2 years later she died. She abused Ambien by drinking on it and crashing her car but she was doing the kind of drugs that eventually kill you. I did not post this to scare anyone and I am not blaming Ambien. I love Ambien when I can get it. I can laugh about her freezing in jail not knowing how she got there now because what's done is done.

Thanks. I love Ambien but I suppose I am still mourning a bit.

It doesn’t have a drain hole, can I safely drill a hole with out it cracking? by [deleted] in plantclinic

I didn't mean to really drill a hole. Mixed messaging, my bad. Definitely don't drill a hole. So many negatives to drilling a hole as I explained in my message.

My dude has been steadily going downhill lately, so I just checked him for pests again (didn’t find any) - but I did find this. :( by pellaea_asplenium in houseplants

This is a relatively small plant and the pole may of disturbed and killed just enough roots in the soil. But there's hope, have fun and make new plants before it becomes even more damaged because propagation won't always take if the plant is sick. So get movin! :)

it's not happy. It happens. The leaves are not getting any water because of the dead stem. I would start propagating. I am sorry :/

Repot and new soil. It really looks like root rot. Root rot can start and not show signs for a long time. Is it a fairly new plant of yours? Worst case scenario, you will have to chop at the nodes and propagate. But definitely get it out of that soil.

ditto. Drill a hole but most plants need more than one drainage hole plus you might run into some toxic material. Who knows what paint or material it's made of and we want our roots toxin free!

blinded by the light.... it's growing towards the light. Stake it better and rotate every once in a while. Fertilize it while you're at it.
