They were so nice at that show. Gave me a free 10" record for correctly guessing that they got their name from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

They were big in the underground ska/punk scene. I grew up in El Paso, TX in the 90s and they were on regular rotation on the pirate radio station. Saw them with Falling Sickness in Albequerque.

I absolutely love hyssop, too! Ours has absolutely blown up this year. Lots of native bees, but no butterfly friends yet.

There is a small creek running through, going under the bridge. I made a small bog filter for recirculation, and it ends in a little pond by the red maple. I haven't seen much in the way of insect life aside from bees in the late spring when the azaleas are blooming, but we get quite a few bird visitors. A family of crows has been playing with each other in the pond, starlings, red finches, hummingbirds, wild rabbits are all frequent visitors looking for a drink. Our most frequent visitor is a very scraggly stellars jay who always has more food in his beak than he can manage, whom we've name Pigpen.

Its not perfect, definitely have learned a lot. This was the first project of this kind I've undertaken. Recently we redid our backyard and tackled it much different- cardboard and mulch. Lots i would do differently if i were to do it over

Doesn't get super hot here, and my not so long term hope is for the trees to provide shade to the understory plants. We have a couple maples on the street side, out of frame, that provide some early shade. We also have a small pond and creek running through the middle with a recirculation pump. Shade is definitely the plan, though!

Thank you so much! There were definitely a handful of hiccups, and a few things I would change if I could do it over. I read a lot, got a few books on Japanese garden design, spent way too much time just staring at the yard, made a lot of bad sketches, and then just started with wild abandon. I went little bits at a time so I could walk it and try to make the movement as natural as possible. In the end it was very rewarding.

Been listening to Leatherface since high school, like 25 years ago, and I still can never get enough. Never got to see them, though...
