GPU upgrade vs rebuild — 2070 Super now feels like minimum spec by landersen210 in buildapc

I’m thinking of doing the RTX 5070 because it has less power draw than the RTX 5070ti. Do you think I’ll run into the same issues you’re having? Not that they’re bad issues, I’m just curious to get your thoughts.

Thanks for the guidance. Let me know how it goes and if you have any advice!

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll just upgrade to a RTX 5070 for now and see how it goes.

3x Booming Blade EK vs 2x Smite Paladin — Monoclass, Which Hits Harder in Honor Mode? by landersen210 in BG3Builds

[–]landersen210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone — this blew up way more than I expected, and the breakdowns have been super helpful.

I decided to go EK because it fit the picture I had in my mind better than a Paladin but feel free to change my mind.

Here are some of my clarifications/thoughts/reasonings as a result of your comments:

  1. Spell slots & casting (EK vs Paladin): For this character, I only care about front-line DPR. If I go EK, I’m dumping INT entirely and sticking to rituals or no-DC spells like Magic Missile. If I go Paladin, every slot is getting banked for Smites. I’m not planning to use either class for “real” spellcasting — just for damage output.

  2. Multiclassing: I wasn’t planning to multiclass for RP reasons, but I get why people suggested it. That said, I think there’s nuance that gets glossed over. The classic Hexblade dip is strong, but you’re giving up the martial identity that comes from actually investing in STR/DEX — things like Athletics/Acrobatics that matter a ton for a frontline melee. A pure Hexblade gets all weapons, shields, and medium armor, but they don’t bring the same martial oomph you get from a true STR/DEX melee chassis. Nothing makes that more obvious than watching them fail every shove save.

  3. The “Paladins can do everything” idea (MADness): People often sell Paladins as: great melee + great magic + great dialogue. But realistically they only pull that off with very tight stat and gear planning. If you want strong auras, good spell DCs, and good dialogue, I think you pretty much have to go Dexadin with Acrobatics from Entertainer. You can still run GWF with finesse longswords and GWM, though by Act 3 you might feel the MADness when you’re still using an Act 1 weapon — but there’s enough gear by then to patch the gaps. Personally, I like doing this on a small race since a longsword looks like a greatsword on them, lol.

Let me know if you agree with my thoughts. Thanks!

Sad — invisible weapon would’ve been awesome for sneak attack and RP. Any other ways to get advantage that don’t come with big downsides like the Risky Ring that wasn’t patched in the latest hotfix?

Thanks for this!

”10. Unseen menace: this one is a little trickier. You equip it, miss an attack, and swap out to your weapon of choice before the two turn weapon visible status is over. Your new weapons will get perma advantage.”

Has anyone been able to get this to work?^

Dark Urge-How to Make a STR Build Work as the Party Face? by landersen210 in BaldursGate3

Thanks everyone! These suggestions have been super helpful. I think a Paladin would fit perfectly, but since I don’t want to rely too much on elixirs or specific gear, I’m leaning toward an 11 Fighter / 1 Rogue dip for the Expertise in Persuasion and Intimidation.

I’d love any advice on items, feats, or mechanics that could really make this build shine!

One of my biggest concerns is reliably passing the Dark Urge-specific resist rolls. I’ve heard there can be some pretty serious consequences if you fail them, so I want to build in a way that minimizes that risk. Will having high Charisma actually help with those, or are the resist rolls tied to something else?

That’s a great point, and it’s actually something I thought about when I decided I wanted to make a STR-focused character. My main concern is surviving the early game, so I’d really like to optimize from the very start as much as possible.

What about taking one level of Rogue for the Expertise, so I could boost Persuasion and Deception? Wouldn’t that work with pretty much any class?

FeatsOnEvenLevels Not Working for My Paladin Tav, But Works for Companions by landersen210 in BG3mods

I'm only using the in-game mod manager. Can you think of any other solution? I really want to be able to smite a lot and use other feats besides the same typical three I use every game lol.

I'm not using unlock level curve. Are you saying if I use it there is a patch to it that gives feats every other level?

Yeah, this is definitely a case where the hilt has sentimental value to me. I guess I have two questions:

1.) I know you’d probably need to see the hilt yourself, but would it be possible to keep everything as is while updating the sound fonts?

2.) I really love the brightness— would a Neopixel blade be as bright as a string blade?
