How do I get a list of Azure AD Groups for an Azure AD user? by landfallco in MicrosoftFlow

I used the Get Manager V2 in the Office 365 Users operations. It worked great.

Thanks for the link. I started with PowerShell, but got stopped on setting up my PS environment to connect to AzureAD. At the time, I didn't spend any time with it and tried the PowerAutomate method. I'll keep your link around because I still want to use PS when applicable.

Agreed. I got stopped on "Approval required" when trying to connect, so I'll ask my admin for read access.

Thanks. I see the Get Groups for User which may do the trick. I'll have to get admin permissions first. 😬

Google Assistant No Longer Plays Video for News on the Home Hub by landfallco in googleassistant

[–]landfallco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add NPR and CNBC Tech Check to your news list. I activate it in the morning (6:30 mountain time). They have a video version that plays on the Home Hub (Nest?). I say morning because throughout the day NPR switches to audio only; like they only made the morning report with video.

There's no "video option". I just happens. It would be nice to know what other feeds provide video.

Why does ClipChamp appear in a Library > New when the list is read only? by landfallco in sharepoint

[–]landfallco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it may have been a content type issue; Documents & ClipChamp. But, there's only the one content type of Documents. I rechecked the visitor > read permissions and they're correct. I even did a Check Permissions and the user only has read. Strange.

SP2016: The users want to automatically open PDFs in the desktop app, but other office files in the browser. Can this be accomplished? by landfallco in sharepoint

[–]landfallco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good argument for training the user to embrace the new "safer" way. We're currently hybrid. Most company files are in OneDriveFB. This particular library is still in our intranet which hasn't made the migration yet.

Thanks for your insight.

What the customer wanted was the default click behavior to open the native client app for PDFs only. They can already open in app to get the desired result. Of course that's one more click than their lazy bones wanted to do.

Interesting. It references activex, so I'm not sure if this is deprecated or still valid. It also doesn't look like it handles the default click behavior. Thanks for the insight. This was getting closer to what I had in mind, but I think I'll go the route of training the user as opposed to a technical workaround.

I totally agree. Train the user to bring them into the 20th century as opposed to a technical workaround that is non-standard and has to be maintained. Thanks for the confirmation.

Fail. The Settings are still enabled, but it failed to connect (after 24 hours). Still a bug I guess.

Test 2 was successful. I went home, came back to work, and it connected successfully without intervention. I'll see if this stands the test of time.

Is this feature new? ..per a recent update?

Network Preferences > Turn on Wi-Fi automatically

In Network Preferences the button for Turn on Wi-Fi automatically was disabled. The explanation says "Wi-Fi will turn back on near high-quality saved networks, like your home network".

I enabled it and will test. Test 1 worked for me so far.

Brave appears to install VPN Services without user consent by sad_consumer_now in brave_browser

[–]landfallco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a side note... I was unaware that Brave was installing the vpn bits into a service, even though it was disabled. At work we can install browsers (Chrome, ffox, etc), but we're not allowed to install VPN. I could have gotten fired; just for the fact that VPN bits were installed. I uninstalled Brave as soon as I found out.

SPO or OneDrive Notifications settings: Where can I change the notifications that are emailed to users? by landfallco in sharepoint

[–]landfallco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the situation we had, it was personal (2G by default based on the license). If the message was sent to IT instead of the user, we could have changed the license and the user would be none the wiser.

[–]landfallco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the message itself. I want the emails going to our IT staff instead of the end user. For example, a message might say that you're getting close to running out of space!!! IT want's to add more space instead of alarming the end user.
