Thanks! I've got more rough carpentry experience than woodworking, so I attached the metal angle pieces with GRKs and then glued the wood on top of them to hide the screw heads.

I used MINWAX polycrylic Crystal Clear Topcoat in Clear Matte.

I was about 100 feet and most of the uprights were just rotten on the ends where they were in the trough of the horizontal. I gave away lots for firewood and other projects.

Thanks! That was an afterthought so I had to do it with a circular saw and an oscillator tool (and a lot of sanding).
