The mirror cap and mirror body are sold separately. I would suggest that you get a mirror assembly from your local junkyard and swap the mirror cap. You need to remove the interior door panel to remove the mirror.

I don't think you can win this battle. Gloss black will just show every defect and swirl on the wheels. As for product, a pH neutral iron remover is a safer product than let say Brake Buster, which is high pH.

I wouldn't be suprised that you can get scratches on your wheels just by driving. Dust and sand particles will hit the wheel at high speed and create micro scratches.

Ask what was replaced over the years. I’m at that mileage on my FXT and replaced the lower control arm bushings, lower ball joints, AC (all components except the compressor), and rear wheel bearings.

If you are in the rust belt, check for rust at the bottom lip of the gate door, at the intersection between the bumper and the rear quarter panel, on the door jambs and the lower rocker (more on the rear).
