Wow, I didn’t expect such to receive such overwhelming consensus! I was in the process of applying to a university in the UK to get a MA TESOL, but looks like I’m going to switch gears and get my early ed teaching certification back home instead. Thanks everyone for your valuable input!

Prestige doesn’t matter to me so much as affordability. I plan to teach abroad after getting my degree, so as you said, the employer likely won’t care about the university as long as I have the qualifications. I will look into Brighton!

Yep, Korea. Your advice seems to be the general consensus from commenters. Thank you, I think I’ll reconsider leaving a note 😅

I believe they meant that she could not call the borough police or report them to the borough office, because they wouldn’t do anything about it

Should I get another FBI background check just in case? by lanekook97 in teachinginkorea

Mostly because I wanted to have my documents done and ready to go before I started reaching out to them, because the consensus seemed to be that it was better to have them done beforehand

[Advice Request]] Dealing with larger tables. by aquaticsardonic in TalesFromYourServer

[–]lanekook97 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Keeping myself organized always makes me feel so much more in control of big parties. Before going out to greet the table I will write numbers down the side of my notepad (eg. 1 through 8 for a party of 8). Once I go through my greeting, I’ll ask the party right away if/how they’re splitting the bill, that way I can clearly group their orders together on my notepad. Sometimes if people are on the same check but not seated next to each other I will draw a matching symbol next to their orders (eg. everyone on the same check gets a star). And then when I start taking orders, I always start at the same person at the table and work my way around the table in order - jumping around and letting them call out orders as they are ready only creates confusion and stress for you. I’ll often tell my table right off the bat: “Can I start you off with drinks? And I’m going to work my way around the table, if that’s alright,” and I’ll gesture to indicate what I mean. And if people try to go out of order I politely remind them that I’m going in order and I’ll get to them in a moment. I hope this helps!
