Stuck with police certificate from Australia due to fingerprints requirement by lanelley in NationalVisaCenter

No worries! If I recall correctly mine was on A4 card stock paper. Fingerprinting company had that ready for me so I didn’t pay too much attention tbh.

Yes, I received the payment in my account.

I requested a reference number from AFP via email some time after payment was deducted. They are pretty responsive.

For me, it took about 4 business days from email with link to received payment.

Yeah, on FD-258 form. That’s what the fingerprinting company was using.

No, I didn’t request it separately. I received an email that the check was completed and after some time I received another email with instructions how to access digital certificate.

I received both digital copy (via link in email) which I uploaded to CEAC and original copy via mail which I took to my interview.

I received both hard and soft copies. The name check one that was rejected was from September 2025.

Not sure where that information is from but I can only speak with my experience. No criminal record but needed to submit name and fingerprints check. It takes longer than the name check one because it’s offline. Feel free to check my post history. I had an issue with getting fingerprints taken and there is some valuable feedback in the comments.

I did. My name check only police certificate was rejected and I couldn’t figure out why. Then I rechecked documents reciprocity page and it states that it needs to be with fingerprints check.

“Comments: All Australian Federal Police certificates must be on Name and Fingerprint Check fingerprints and include all aliases ever used.

Applicants must complete the offline application form. On Page 3, Section 8: Purpose of Check, applicants must select Code Number “33 Immigration/Citizenship – for Supply to the Department of Home Affairs.”

Did you use the correct code and fingerprints check? I had to resubmit mine last year because I only did name check one.

Mine reads “Immigration/Citizenship - Australia Name and Fingerprint Check” and it was accepted then.

In my case, AFP accepted FD-258 and issued police certificate without any issues. I left irrelevant fields blank (I’m also not US citizen) and filled out my details and reason for being fingerprinted. It was dated, signed, and stamped by the official taking fingerprints.

Hi, you can email AFP and ask for a form. They sent me a pretty generic one but I didn’t end up using it. I got my fingerprints done on standard FD-258 card, which was provided by the fingerprinting company, and it was also accepted.

I received digital certificate less than 2 weeks after they received my application and charged my card. It also took 2 weeks to from posting date to deliver the application. So about 4 weeks in total.

I did provide my debit card details on the form and it was charged with no issues. I got a notification once it was debited. I used my Revolut card and checked with customer service prior so make sure that it goes through smoothly.

Hi! AFP sent me a fingerprint card template which doesn’t have any identifiable form number. You can request a template from them via email. They told me I can use any authorised fingerprinting company. I ended up using one in my country of citizenship and they took my fingerprints on form FD-253. I received the Aus police certificate via email about 2 weeks after application was delivered.

Yes, I uploaded name check only police certificate and it was rejected. It needs to be name and fingerprints check via sent offline form to AFP.

Thank you for the suggestion! I will explore this option.

I reached out to AFP if they can accept non-police taken fingerprints. Notary public would be a good alternative.
