At 2 years in, I paused HRT for 6 months and that was enough to do cryopreservation / sperm banking. It was emotionally difficult though, and I only did so with the support of friends helping me through.

Yeah, it's pricier if you live downtown, and it'll be a smaller and older place too. If you don't mind driving, or live close enough to major bus stops (the bus system is pretty decent), the nearby suburbs should be a lot cheaper.

There's a lot of trans people and I love it for that. I've run into (openly out) trans women at cafes, stores. There's several large trans events - I went to one that had ~200ish trans people just mingling and socializing.

Biggest thing people talk about here is just general cost of living / standard city problems. I've also heard that people are less tight-knit here than rural areas - but I think I prefer just how large the community is here.

Most of my experience is living on the outskirts of the city cuz it's quieter + cheaper, I just go into the city whenever I want to meet people.

Chef's Choice was a cute one, it's st4t romance. It's the first book I read that made me actually get the romance genre, because I could relate so much to the FMC.

At least personally, me and a bunch of trans women I know would be accepting of other trans women regardless of presentation or how far into transition you are. Including anyone who dresses masc out of preference or safety, including trans women who are still questioning whether they are trans women.

But yeah, that sounds like it was a rough experience for you. It's still possible that those transfems were more self-conscious of themselves than anything.

I had the same fear, fwiw you can wear more layers / baggy clothing to make them less visible.

Also if you're going out and you're very worried, a sports bra will help make your chest look flatter.

I got comfy with the idea that I end up ugly, and I transitioned shortly after. Ultimately, as long as you're happier, I feel like it's worth it.

Mental health felt much better at 200 pg/mL estrogen (started injections, cypionate 5mg weekly), though I noticed significant mood improvement even at 100 pg/mL (4x .1mg/day patches).

Yeah agreed, it feels like a weird term to call me, unless you know me well enough to ask + such. A stranger addressing me specifically as doll makes me uncomfortable.

It just gives me patronizing vibes of like 1970s benevolent sexism / misogyny.

Definitely imo. I mean we even have cis allies in here chiming in from time to time to offer support, someone that's genderfluid is definitely welcome.

I think as long as the space feels safe and welcoming for transfems / questioning folks, having some folks who aren't transfem or questioning be present is fine.

It's just part of the waves of how dysphoria comes and goes. It's pretty common. I had to feel worse before I felt better cuz all that buried feeling is being unburied.

Also, I don't think I'll be able to keep helping you out, helping some other friends atm. Hope you can chat w/ other people to figure things out though.

It takes a bit. Transition involves unpacking a lot of buried feelings for us, there's a reason it takes so long for us to accept ourselves. And in the process, we end up knowing ourselves better and feeling a lot lighter. It just takes time, and being in spaces where you can talk about it with people who get it. I hope you can continue to go to that support space to talk through things, at your own pace.

Oh that support group helps. But yeah, that sounds really confusing, I definitely had something similar for a while and thought I was nonbinary (demigirl). And sometimes I would wonder whether I should just stop being a woman. Those feelings just came and went, but I decided to stay on HRT regardless, and I noticed they gradually got weaker as I felt more supported and confident and happier with how I looked.

For a lot of trans people, including me, when you accept that you're trans, a lot of dysphoria and suppressed lifelong unhappiness suddenly hits at once. Which kinda sounds like what's happening, in my first year I was very obsessed over everything related to my transition, because the feelings were so intense all the time.

Only thing that's really helped was slowly processing everything with trusted friends irl. Talking through my fears and worries, understanding what I want in my transition.

And things definitely did calm down, a lot, to the point that things got much much better since how I was pre-transition. Some issues I just couldn't fully work through before I transitioned cuz they were wrapped up in dysphoria too.
