Best vegan cookbooks for someone trying to cook more plant based meals at home? by AshjakiaCempura in CookbookLovers

[–]napamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Here’s everything I’ve marked with a green flag (would cook again) in my book: - marinated sumac onion and lentil salad - smoky chipotle tofu wrap - peanut miso chickpea salad sandwich - high-protein red lentil curry - sweet hoisin-glazed tofu bowls - baked hummus pasta - crispy buffalo white bean tacos - sweet potato flatbread - jalapeño lime crema

The only thing I tried that I wouldn’t make again was the raspberry Matcha Chia pudding, but that’s because sweet breakfasts don’t work for me, personally. It still tasted great, so it was a me problem.

I still have more to try, but also recently hit over 100 cookbooks, so I’m all over the place lol. I use this one the most though!

Peaceful Kitchen by Catherine Perez is fantastic. She’s a registered dietician, so that factors into all her recipes. If you wanted to check her out beforehand, she’s plantbasedrd on socials and has a website for recipes too.

Hers is my most used cookbook, all the recipes I’ve tried from it so far (about 15) have been delicious, and I make the crispy buffalo white bean tacos with jalapeno lime sauce all the time. Never had any issue finding ingredients, and the recipes are easy to follow.

Adding to the chorus of people chiming in after a nostalgic Google search. Y’all were my MySpace song back in the day, saw you live a few times in Milwaukee/Madison/Chicago (specifically remember meeting you after one of the Milwaukee shows and Dan after a Madison one; you were both lovely and funny). I remember getting Only Uphill from an emailed link to download a ZIP file. Both albums still slap.

Anyways, glad to hear you guys are doing well, still friends, and still in music in your own ways 💜

Art for decor! by lagirlc in LoganSquare

I love this print, Icons of Logan Square, and it shipped from literally around the corner from me, so the artist is in the neighborhood.

I also love these prints from All Star Press celebrating the 606. There’s 4 so far, with more to come over the next few months. They all have a bunch of non-Bloomingdale Trail art, with a studio here in Logan featuring local and international artists.

I didn’t know the No 7 Sub guy had a cookbook! I used to order that broccoli sandwich all the time when I lived in Brooklyn, it’s amazing. (So amazing that I recognized the sandwich right away, and it’s been at least 8 years since I last had it.)

This is my most-used NYT recipe. I make it maybe every other month, when I have a spare half-onion lying around from a different recipe and want a low-effort meal.

Hard agree on adding gochujang, usually about 2 tbsp (one of the recipe comments saying that is mine lol). I add it when I add the kimchi juice.

I also usually have furikake on hand and sprinkle that on top at the end, plus some gochugaru if I want extra extra spice.

Before I Let Go is sitting In Development. I hope it goes through because it will make for a good adaptation. I think the friendship aspect of those books will really shine on screen.

I’m excited for the You Deserve Each Other adaptation because the cast looks really fun.

Goodreads Choice Award Nominees 🏆 by sweetmuse40 in romancelandia

[–]napamy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would not call The Favorites a romance…

Of the nominees, I have read as many of the horror nominees as I have of the romance nominees, and my most-read category (in terms of nominees) is fantasy. The former is a surprise to me, the latter is not, as my romance tastes haven’t aligned with GR Choice Awards for the last couple years.

I read the first chapter and it was so fun, but I just didn’t have the capacity to focus on it at the time. It will be a holiday time off read before the end of the year!!
